Reset.
Interest rates back to 7%.
Reinvest in the UK.
Ban all outsourcing.
No recruitment companies. Just plain old employees.
House values back to 3 X annual salary levels.
And of course first class stamp 26p. 2nd class 19p.

Economic realities mean that people will be paid less if they wish to keep working.
no one wants that but it is just economic reality.

The National strike in the 1920's started because the coal miners refused to accept lower pay.
The World price of coal plummeted and the mines were going bust.
(Winston Churchill was out of his depth as chancellor and fixed the £ at too high a rate.)

'not a penny off our pay, not an hour on the day' was the slogan used by the striking miners.

And what job do you do? Are you prepared to be paid more modestly? Is it just for others that you prescribe this medicine?

Perhaps that is what the workforce don't want...... to be driven into the ground...... and why should they? They are paid just above the minimum wage.... hardly a kings ransom.

It is about time they were relieved of the final mile delivery obligation for these other companies , this has gone too far now , trouble is its still got unionised planks in the workforce who will drive themselves into the ground .

"They have a pension surplus."

Simply not true. A outright lie.

Dividend cancelled just as I predicted a year ago.

This will go below 100p for sure now.

Well they have thrown the kitchen sink at the statement, all
the negative news you could think of, so I would hope a little
stability maybe. We shall see, keep safe everyone, see you Monday.

Yes that is why I bought this morning as I thought the cancelled dividend
would support the balance sheet, more work due to internet and unions
hopefully seeing the country needs the service.
We shall see.

I am surprised by the fall. My local postie says straight forward to social distance especially for those that deliver, that his bosses had asked him if he wished to stay home given his age, and parcels business noticeably up on a week ago and a above inflation price increase for letters and parcels on March 23 or March 24.

Right now there will be a lot of redundant transport very hungry for work, will that have an impact on Parcel Force?

If the unions supported that would be a good outcome, but will they?

Stopped out at B/E - the guys in the depots were right but seems like the 600,000 HS helpers will be doing the job that the RM employees were speculating that they would do.
