Seems odd that the CEO was buying shares at a much higher price last year.

Divi is safe. They borrowed to cover it. Plan is to sell off parcel force for around £1b imho.

RM pension Wasim surplus last time I saw info. Property is worth a lot but they can't sell it because they need it for operations.

no pension deficit, they have a surplus and make money off it 6m sept to sept, and 402m surplus, if I am correct. with 10bln in account.
As for the property value, that's a hard one because it depends what weatherspoons would pay if it is in good footfall on pub crawl patch, or half decent local property developer for flats if it is just out of it for any towns main office, so conservatively I think its around an acre of brown field with building that could be eight flats or a big pub, so roughly 500t to 750t depending where it is located, so 75m to 100m for main bulk of what would sell easily, then not sure about the big regional depots like mountpleasent dotted about, but if you said another 100m. that's half a guess, so 250m at best. ppe is said to be 2bln
like I said not sure what they own and what is leased, but I personally don't think they own as much as folks think, just being conservative.
then there is the 1bln+ in bonds that needs covering in a few years so technically they worth 50p to £1.

Thanks for that resume. So letter delivery is nation wideIn what used to be called Universality.Everyone ..every household is on the System. Its a shame there Wasnt a patent on the post code system. How its use has become ubiquitous On the net etc.As we know BT shares have dived tooPartly due to the,£5 billion pension pot shortfall. Has RMG got a massive shortfall too ?

Brut Winky, the new CEO is up against a Civil Service with senior and middle managers who of course will do their best to keep themselves comfortable. It's going to be a fight to make sure changes are truly implemented as intended. Of course if those within RMG don't improve things then the likes of Amazon and DHL will eat their lunch, but being forced to carry other operators mail at a loss is a huge drag on the company, the new government needs to end this now we are out of the EU. Why are we subsidising DHL (German post office) and TNT (Dutch post office)? No wonder the UK is a laughing stock when both those countries insist that only their nationals can carry mail!

we can all wax lyrical about operational inefficiencies, the decline of the letter and industrial strife at RM. However, none of this is new and I don't quite follow why in the wake of the election results the share price was 250 and now 170.

Porsche1945, maintaining goodwill amongst the workforce is essential in this type of business because it takes only a little hidden sabotage to destroy your schedule, in what is a mechanised relay race. The Unions can be your ally if handled fairly, the workers do not want to go on strike, they just want a fair wage and conditions. They are not unreasonable people, although of course you might get politically motivated persons trying to use a Union as a vehicle for their own ambitions, especially in a strong industry, but RMG is not in a strong industrial position.

RMG needs the yoke of having to carry other companies mail at a loss for the 'last mile'. There needs to be a declaration of what that costs the company, it will be very significant.

lefrene , thanks for the reply, new CEO did say he was trying to push it to a more contractor mindset business and there clearly not any closer to it. they got a lot of stick for hiring him, but to be fair GLS was his and does know how the industry ticks, but its the ticks that are dug isn't it, as for the lower and middle management, there was a suggestion they agreed to all the changes.
I made a big mistake taking these seriously really.

Brexit is the best thing to happen to this country in years. The EU is inefficient and is falling apart here and now.

The Board expects to recommend a full year dividend of 15.0 pence per share for 2019-20, in line with new dividend policy.

Scumbag unions damaging their own company, morons. Need to mechanise, use more tech less people, try and get rid of the unions and lose door to door delivery except for some stuff maybe, just keep the higher value parcels biz (basically delivering for Amazon) nobody sends letters anymore. Could see this getting re nationalised. UK into impoverishing self harm, see Brexit.
