BlueLynx, 'careful' seems ignorant of the fact that his beloved Euro 'friends' in Germany and Holland refuse to let Royal Mail compete in their countries because only their nationals are permitted to carry mail, a bit convenient don't you think? Whilst at the same time the biased Brussels mafia enforce legislation that forces RMG to carry the 'last mile' below cost, for German and Dutch operators in the UK! (DHL & TNT)

'Brussels mafia' that's a very succinct and perfect description of the EU Commission.

Porsche1945, Your response to my disagreement of your pro view of the EU is typical of the self-righteous nastiness of Remainers.

The EU is in no way efficient our money is wasted in massive amounts, also its better to have power and decision making made at the local level, not at a centralised center made by a small number of Commissioners. Why do you think some call the EU the EUSSSR.

Democracy is a sham in the EU, MEP have very limited power to make new Legislation that is mostly made by the
all powerful Commission.

My guess is that you have a financial interest in staying in the EU. Anyway, the UK will do just fine free of the EU. Remainers scare stories have, and never will, come to pass so stop your deluded lies.

careful, perhaps it is because I have personal experience of taking work gangs to France and Germany where the police did their best to turn them away because they were not nationals of those countries, ie they were Brits! I had to use my wits to overcome this blatant nationalism. I have a teacher friend (female) who worked in a French school but they would not pay her because she didn't have a carte sejour (identity card) but the local police refused to issue her with one. Eventually she had to return to the UK with her children, at which point the school then paid her. I have several similar stories where if you are not a national of France or Germany you will get biased treatment, especially so in France if you are a Brit. It's not the local people they're fine, it's state policy enforced by the police at local level. Forget going to court for unpaid bills over goods delivered, if you are not French you won't win. They see us as a laughing stock and they are right to do so, we have been fools for decades. But lets see if Boris now throws away this opportunity to escape the straight jacket we have rented at such high cost for so long.

careful, if you believe the EU is so wonderful you are free to go and live there, but don't expect to take a job over a Frenchman or German, it won't happen.

...'Not only has the country been carrying the selfish EU for decades'.

lefrene you make informed posts on some topics but Brexit turns you into the village idiot.

Another example of why the electorate should never make detailed executive decisions beyond their understanding.
Just let them choose the government, that is enough democracy.

they should wind up the company

sack all the dossers

and give the pension surplus back to shareholders where it belongs

and then start building flats on all of those valuable property sites

perhaps some of us "thickos" could take some of the power back from the incredibly intelligent politicians who offered to abide by the referendum in the first place...and the even more intelligent weasels in Brussels who are worried about competition and seem to believe that free movement to a silly little island already stuffed with 70 million people is a good idea?

@bluelynx. you will be one of the knuckle draggers who voted for it then. Enjoy your trashed currency and shrinking economy (uk productivity 3rd world) By the way, the EU just signed the largest free trade agreement ever made, with Japan. Its why sensible countries dont have referendums, most peoppe are thick. Its why they put “ do not drink “ on a bottle of bleach, what they should do is take the labels off and have another referendum in 2 years haha.

looking forward to my 14.39% dividend next year.
that is better than 1% in the building society.
..I wonder if they will trim it?

Strange thing is that it only costs £250m in a turnover of about £11bn.
Holding the final 17p divi in may would cost £170m.
Any private equity group would take this over for todays cap of £1.74bn and immediately load it up with debt and pay themselves a fat divi of twice of todays divi.

Then they would sort it out, sell on for £3bn+.

It is not rocket science and private equity are not that smart, it is obvious, especially when there are tax advantages to loading up on debt.

RMG have a sound underlying business and strong balance sheet.

IIRC the pension liability was taken on by the govt when this was sold to joe public.

Can anyone confirm we don't carry that debt/problem.

Dave Ward, the Posties CWU trade union leader, came up with this pearl of wisdom in 2015:
'There is a virus within the Labour party and Jeremy Corbyn is the antidote'. Need we say anymore.

So RMG is a failing company beset with an expensive workforce and a raft of "Old Spanish Practices" which management has failed to deal with. The competition is,unsurprisingly eating its lunch.Against this backdrop it seems unbelievable that Posties want to strike for more pay but they do.The CEO needs to take on the Union and deal with this madness once and for all otherwise a Hedge Fund will buy in and do it for them.Agree that, one way or another, the share price will return to 300p.

the share price will be above 300p in twelve month time and 400p in 24 months time.somebody like Willie Walsh who has done a fantastic job as British Airways chief executive would sort this company in no time.Besides he is leaving BA in october.he sorted out the unions and pilots at BA.

I think this Rico guy is completely useless though offloading him would be a plus sounds like he's milking it for himself, works part time hours living in Switzerland where he doesn't have a clue about what is going on. Spreadsheets and meetings with Power point presentations jeez what a waste of space.

sounds like Vince Cable got a premium price when he sold it off by what the insiders are saying. I think it's just a company stuck in its old ways which are no longer sustainable in the modern world. Either it reforms or it gets sold off bit by bit then left with just a core operation which gets bought out by a competitor. It'll end up being run just like every other business in this sector

Not an expert on RMG's business so find the various opinions quite confusing. It just beggars belief that this company can fall from grace so spectacularly. When you consider that the good and the great of the city seem to occupy the non exec roles in RMG you would expect a better performance for all the millions they are paid.Vince Cable and Michael Fallon did a fantastic job in offloading RMG though at the time they were heavily criticised!Let's hope the CEO has everything under control!

I hear that many man hours are wasted in mail centres recording traffic in and out of work areas and filling out colourful graphs wall charts. Lots of room for improvement other than attacking employees t& C's. Also Ofcom can do plenty to improve RMG profits if they are so motivated. Perhaps a period of gloom will sharpen everyone's concentration.
