While other shortlisted vendors have submitted bids for their respective small modular reactor (SMR) designs, EDF has withdrawn its Nuward model from Great British Nuclear's SMR selection contest.

If Labour's aim really is to produce electricity without fossil fuels by 2030 they will need to move quickly. It is less than five and a half years away.

They cannot rely totally on solar and wind as it is not always windy at night. Currently, we import a fair amount of energy through the intercontinental connectors and we generate a reasonable amount through the ageing nuclear plants.

These MUST be replaced and a fast pace. SMR must be the answer in the medium term and each months delay reduces the 65 full months remaining until 2030.

Talk is cheap. Action requires guts.

Yes skinny , it's the same engine design and reaction engines was set up when HOTOL couldn't prove its economic case for space flight , but used for passenger aircraft could be a very interesting proposition so it will be interesting to see what happens next !

Good morning RR holders. Technical Trader in Peace!

If you're in profit, I would consider top-slicing at this level. The chart looks set for a significant correction. The wider market is lining up to correct too. You might have a couple of up-days still in the tank, but I wouldn't risk it.

Just my view.

Hate to say it but maybe we are not on the cusp of progressing SMRs - just saying.

One clueless government after another. They just don't get it. To pay for great welfare services we need to be a wealthy country, and that means we need to support high paid jobs right across every sector and class society, so that the UKs productivity can merely catch up with the likes of the US, France, Germany, S Korea, Japan etcThis and the yesterday's news on oil drilling are two immediate failures after the election without a shred of good news coming from the labour govt. Early days yes but does not bode well.
