#21248 postscript. "Putin has said that any country that confiscates state Russian assets that Russia will break off diplomatic relation with and that include breaking off diplomatic relations with the United States."

Lol, logliar. WTF does Putin know about diplomacy? He spells it RAPE or BOMB or KILL - just more four letter words from his normal vocabulary.

If the United States does confiscated Russian state assets, then the U.S. can do it to any country meaning for the majority of countries around the world they'll no longer be able to trust holding U.S. Treasury's.

Countries over the past year that have increased their holdings of U.S. Treasury's the most in percentage terms...

Canada - 30%
Ireland - 22%
Germany - 22%
Luxembourg - 16%

While China reduced their holdings by 14.4% and Belgium by 13%.

So far the Israelis have killed over 21,000 innocent Palestinians in Gaza with a further 56,000 plus injured of which over 70% are reported to be women and children, with thousands more missing - naturally this is not a war crime and no Israeli assets have been frozen by the West.

I know xxxy. It is dreadful, especially all those Ukrainian children kidnapped and eaten to keep the population of Russia from starvation. Its a crime against humanity, but what else can they do? All Russia's financial reserves need to be preserved to pay for Putin's legal defence bills at the Hague.

The United States has asked Japan to supply the Ukraine with some of their air defense missiles thereby degrading Japanese air defence capabilities.

So far Japan has refused and said NO as they need them to defend themselves against a potential attack by either N. Korea or China.

This shows how little armourments the United States has left to give the Ukraine and also what's happened to the U.S. saying that the defence of their allies in and around the China Sea is of the utmost importance to them - clearly its not and again shows that the United States can not be trusted as an ally.

I have suggested to people living in the Azores, Canary Islands and Madeira for them to leave Portugal and Spain and to join together to become a Confederation and a non-aligned Neutral State where the sensible people can go and live.

If the United States are not careful, maybe as early as next year I can see them splitting the world into the West and the Rest of the World especially as they are now talking about confiscating the state assets of Russia that are currently frozen in the West.

Putin has said that any country that confiscates state Russian assets that Russia will break off diplomatic relation with and that include breaking off diplomatic relations with the United States.

I can also see if the United States does this then China will most probably increase the rate its currently reducing their U.S. Treasury holdings which currently stands at $100bln per year over the past 3 years, wish to half them as quickly as possible.

Christ. Perhaps I should sell everything and buy farmland in some neutral country. Are there any neutral countries left? Ireland and Austria are blatantly not, despite the rhetoric. Even Switzerland has been making stupid noises about Russia. Finland is overtly not, of course. Serbia? Azerbaijan? Is there nowhere left to go to for a quiet life?

Washington puts forward G7 plan to confiscate $300bn in Russian assets
Proposal would accelerate preparations in time for a February summit to show solidarity with Ukraine

The US has proposed that working groups from the G7 explore ways to seize $300bn in frozen Russian assets, as the allies rush to agree a plan in time for the second anniversary of Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

While no decisions have been taken and the issue remains hotly debated inside European capitals, the acceleration of work on confiscating Moscow’s assets for Ukraine highlights its rising importance for the west.

The topic was discussed this month by both G7 finance ministers and their deputies, according to people briefed on the calls, which touched on how to develop such a policy and assess the risks involved.

The US, backed by the UK, Japan and Canada, has proposed moving forward with the preparatory work so the options would be ready for a potential meeting of G7 leaders around February 24, the date of Vladimir Putin’s 2022 offensive on Kyiv.

The three working groups proposed by Washington would examine the legal issues around confiscation; the method of applying such a policy and mitigating risks; and options for how to best channel the support to Ukraine.

Germany, France, Italy and the EU have expressed some reservations, and the need to carefully assess the legality of confiscating Moscow’s assets before decisions are taken. Several European ministers also stressed the need to maintain high levels of secrecy over the work, according to accounts of the meeting.

Various options are being explored in western capitals, ranging from directly confiscating and spending the Russian central bank assets, to tapping the proceeds from the frozen assets or using them as collateral for loans.

The EU has stopped short of seizing the Russian assets themselves, instead exploring ways to skim off profits generated for financial institutions such as Euroclear, where €191bn in sovereign assets are held.

Washington has not publicly backed seizing Russian assets. But the US privately circulated a discussion paper this year within the G7 suggesting seizures of Moscow’s frozen assets would be lawful as “a countermeasure to induce Russia to end its aggression”.

I am brutally honest which often other posters get upset at.

What started the conflict in the Ukraine was the 2014 coloured coup d'etat orchestrated by the United States and therefore it is the United States who are the war criminals here as they usually are.

Most Western media are good communicators who convince people that they know what they are talking about = click bate approach.

They paint an inaccurate picture to cause a lot of fear among their audience and make them feel they need to watch/read more because they don't want to miss out on potentially more crucial news.

Western media put out unrealistic over dramatic outlook on the content of their stories and clearly pays them more for them to make scary fearmongering (To deliberately arouse public fear and alarm about a particular issue) news stories then to make accurate truthful news stories.

Western media put out nothing but fearmongering news.

The audience doesn't gain a lot from news that is just click bate.

At the end of the day it all comes down to viewers and subscribers for the Western media, its all about MONEY and GREED (A desire or want which causes other people harm, pain and suffering.)

Western media has sold out for money at the expense of their audience and provide no real value to their audience, their content has no real value.

To mobilize 500,000 would mean mobilizing many teachers which would mean closing the schools down, mobilizing police, engineers and anybody else who is able to walk on their own two feet - the Ukraine has had it.

Ukrainian recruitment is suffering because of the poor state of the Russian economy I suppose. The Ukrainian population is falling because Russia can only feed its people by kidnapping and eating Ukrainians, especially larger children approaching military age. As xxxy has pointed out, that is a war crime, but what is Putin to do? He can't just let his people starve as Stalin did to the Ukrainian population in the 1930s: that caused resentment which has lasted to this day.

"They won't be able to recruit people during the new mobilization."

That's why they're kidnapping them, grabbing them off the street. The latest is doctors are not allowed to see any patients who don't have military documents, either enlistment papers or proof of exemption. Moronic fascism à la Zelenxyyy.

It seems to me what Zaluzhny is saying, unless NATO puts boots on the ground in Ukraine, on the front line fighting the Russians that the war is lost.

When presented with the inevitable, do not waste precious time resisting it and waste another several 100,000s Ukrainian lives.

Armed Forces of Ukraine Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny discussed the reasons why the Ukrainian army is yielding ground, disavowed any role in Kiev’s decision to mobilize another 500,000 recruits, and admitted that any positive forecasts for the forces under his command remain a pipe dream in his first press briefing since the start of the special military operation.

The Ukrainian commander-in-chief conceded that the key Donetsk suburb of Marinka was lost to Ukraine forever, and that the Ukrainian army will have to give up Avdeevka as well in two to three months. Zaluzhny identified his greatest mistake as believing that he "could stop Russia," and, according to him, the main current goal is to preserve the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, who are in short supply.

Zaluzhny did not exaggerate the circumstances. He understands that the end is near. They won't be able to recruit people during the new mobilization. They will be unable to start any aggressive operations next year. And unless the West supplies people the front will erode over time.
