SJ - on the face of it they look cheap, however, still a lot of uncertainty hanging over PLUS in my view.

If you read the RNS from PTEC they make it clear that the FCA are still not satisfied with the issues surrounding PLUS and the issues are not likely to be resolved by year-end. Paraphrased in my own words but the fact the concerns/investigation is not yet resolved is pretty worrying.

Blimey where is everyone - not an unexpected outcome - probably what PLUS wanted given recent trading - Q3 was stunning.

"Accordingly, the acquisition of Plus500 will not be proceeding as planned."

Given the repeated delays, it was obvious that this is what the outcome was going to be...

Short PLUS? There is something not quite right here...

Blow me its not over till the fat lady sings. And Fanny C. Annie sure is having a few cakes.

It expects a decision on its application to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in connection with the acquisition of Plus500 in December 2015. The terms of the Merger Agreement are such that it may be terminated if the acquisition is not consummated by 31 December 2015.

Playtech has informed Plus500 that the FCA's regulatory assessment is a confidential process between the FCA and Playtech. Playtech will only announce further details on conclusion of the process.

So here you have it - The obituary,

Cable Car Capital’s Jacob Ma-Weaver
by Rupert Hargreaves, ValueWalk

VW: Finally, Cable Car hit the headlines in the UK earlier this year when you revealed in a series of blog posts that you were short spread betting and CFD provider, Plus500. Firstly, how did you go about putting together your short thesis for PLUS, and where did the idea come from? Secondly, how would you respond to the accusation that your method of publicizing Cable Car’s PLUS short could be construed as market manipulation?

JMW:
I first became aware of PLUS through industry research supporting an unrelated investment (long) in a financial exchange last year. The reported profitability seemed too good to be true and worthy of fuller investigation, but I got much more interested in the business model after they emerged relatively unscathed from the Swiss National Bank’s decision to remove the CHF peg. Dan McCrum’s excellent series at the Financial Times provided a jumping off point for a lot of additional forensic accounting work and background investigation.

Once I decided to write about it, simply cataloging each of the inconsistencies I had observed in the reported financials opened up additional questions. Pursuing each line of inquiry was like following a thread and slowly unraveling a better understanding of how the company profits from its customers, operates without a license in many jurisdictions, and portrays itself to the market.

I would disagree with the pairing, if the deal goes through, PTEC gets the company cheap and its share price will rise plus the rise to £4 of Plus.

I think the trade is the other way around. Limited downside on a short.

On one hand you have PLUS price protection of 400p so supposedly easy money, on the other hand the ongoing prolongation delay indicates that the FCA deal approval is problematic. If we assume the AVA trade case is to be repeated, it means that the deal will not be come through and in this case PLUS should have >120 M$ in its coffers for immediate dividend and all its performance parameters seems rather to show growth then decline. If PTEC fails to get FCA approval than something is wrong there and this will extrapolate to all its financial business line including related companies like Safecharge. Is it a classic pair trade Long PLUS short PTEC?

Liquid, if you are going to post on a financial board, why not keep it clean.

We can have different opinions, no issue, but please have some respect for other posters and their opinions.

Unfortunately this board has turned into a children's play ground.

There is no point conversing with a moron. It is very well known that Cyprus is much laxer.

You should do some research before turning on your laptop. It would stop you looking like an absolute mug.

'far more lax' by what means?
Prove it then.
Or was it something you saw on the internet
and shared it with your other Oscar

That I can answer, the relationship with the FCA is frigging terrible.
The FCA are spitting mad as a bag of snakes - especially as the King Cobra in it has had his head cut off (10148).
What would you do under the circumstances? - Bag your customers in a different bag. Or get Black Adder on board with a cunning plan.
p.s.
see that little 'Important Message' down below. With that in mind mind why do you keep asking the same question over and over? are you exepecting a different answer?

Liquid it is why they are registering new people to Cyprus rather than the UK that's the question. I don't know the answer, do you? With no answer to that question makes me wonder what their relationship is like with the FCA.

Look at share price. Whatever the reason is ...there is one. It must be regulatory in my book....I know it isnt because of a few comments on the internet

agree with ELcapital, their response is irrelevant, the internet is littered from people complaining about their accounts being frozen.

In any case whether this is a widespread issue or not its not the main issue with regard to the takeover, these being a)why are they registering people in Cyprus now and what impact will that have on the deal, and b) when will the FCA give the required approval? Who knows?

Dear Roman,
Please note that the negative reviews from users represents a small percentage of customers.

Take into account that satisfied users usually don't take the time to write reviews.

Bear in mind that in many cases, users who trade illegitimately, fail to provide documentation or make mistakes, post their story on the internet. Due to the privacy policy we operate according to, we are unable to fully clarify the situation on a public reply, so you only get one side of the story. Furthermore, in many cases issues raised by our customers are resolved within a short period of time. In such cases, users often do not post a follow up review.

Kindly note that we do our best in order to provide most efficient and professional answers and make every possible effort in order to provide replies as fast as possible.

We appreciate your understanding regarding this matter and we will be glad to answer any unresolved query you might have.

Let us know if we can further assist you.
