If indeed there were problems with the deal, which there isn't necessarily, I'm sure the FCA might be most interested in who was dumping/shorting shares over the last day or two, since it would be clear they had been acting on insider information.

So unless someone is getting a very large margin call as they are on the wrong side of an oil or commodity trade the price action is telling you something.

Shorting this is a dangerous game, if the FCA clear the bid then you have to close the short pronto, I am not sure how easy it is to get the borrow either.
I am long the arb at the higher levels but did add another 10k today, averageing down my average down........

Seernb. Be cautious here......when the shorters get their act together, they really get their act together and this moves massive amounts rapidly. Your choice, but suggest you look into what happened in May this year.

I bought in a partial position today at 359p. Will add again in the 350's if no news. Remember that Playtech has to pay a 17p breakup fee if they walk (and there is no material adverse clause triggered). Also, if the FCA blocks the bid, then the breakup fee won't be paid, is that correct?

Even so the shares are currently priced at 7.5 P/E ex cash.

Hi Kidk. Very strange price action, it suggests the deal will not proceed.

Interesting situation.

Evening elc. Haven't had much interest here of late, but this fall is getting my attention. On watch now, could tank.

Greetings All
I hold these having bought the position as an arbitrage play. The current price even before the fall today suggests that all is not well with the deal; if it was then they would be around the 397ish level. The deal is also not covered by the UK Take Over code so it is easier to walk away from if you are Playtech.
I have no feel for what the price would be if the deal falls through, there are very few other arbs in the name but if you think the deal happens then it’s a very good rate of return at these levels

How do you reckon on 50% downside? Last earnings for the half year were for 20p. The company has about 50p cash. Seems like max downside is 300p putting the company on an ex cash rating of about 6.
