Another interesting article from a few days ago (posted on Pantheon’s Twitter feed on 30th Nov) refers to the views of a Goldman Sachs analyst who is predicting oil rising to $65 in 2021 and some near term volatility: HTTPS://www.zerohedge.com/commodities/goldman-sees-oil-rising-65-2021-turbulence-near-term

Brexit uncertainty is holding the UK market back. No immediate drivers for PANR so hot money moves. Thursday for OPEC and up to a couple of months till spud

Kerching, ringsring1! Surprised the market hasn't reacted more strongly to the news that the Pfizer vaccine has been given the go ahead. Rollout to NHS staff beginning in a week's time will see them protected against the virus early January. As many as 20% infections are hospital based. Coupled to inoculating the old and vulnerable, we shall see infection rates coming down massively from mid January and big reductions in death rates 3-4 weeks later, regardless of tier level restrictions. Despite the ambivalence of the daily chart I see UKoil poised for another turn up too. Selling out of oil stocks now would in my view be completely barmy, doubly so in the case of PANR!

"Whether we like it or not, whether it’s morally/ethically defensible or not, oil will continue to be the dominant resource for quite a while yet." I believe that oil IS morally and ethically defensible. I go further and suggest that such a moral defence is an imperative.

Nothing like a global pandemic helps politicians to get off their high horses and look at ways to run society on the cheap. Whether we like it or not, whether it’s morally/ethically defensible or not, oil will continue to be the dominant resource for quite a while yet. Also, when the pandemic loosens its grip, people will travel as if no tomorrow. Aviation will spring back into prolific life with an enormous pent-up desire to travel and see the world. People aren’t working hard/long hours just to sit at home watching Pinterest photos from far-away sunny places during their holidays....

A interesting counterpoint to the Bloomberg piece by Art Berman. "The economy runs on oil. Perhaps a major energy transition has begun in which the role of oil will be progressively diminished in coming decades. Markets do not think in decades. I am surprised that this opportunity for profit is apparently missed or ignored by investors. The market knows that investment is needed immediately. The consequences of ignoring what the market knows may be economically disastrous for a struggling world economy." And being beside the pipeline is rather handy as everyone else needs to contend with this: “Bank of America rules out Arctic financing. Bank of America joined other major banks in ruling out funding for new oil and gas drilling in the Arctic. Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, and Citi have all previously done the same.” Pantheon are in the right place at the right time. Fingers crossed!

@michaelsadvfn - yes of course, another oversight by me as my pieces will IMHO undoubtedly be taken by a stronger opponent in a swift move at an opportune moment. It sounds like Beth of The Queen's Gambit fame!!

@The Priest, unfortunately I'm a mere PI like you and many others thus my funds are limited. I am also restricted, especially at this time of year, by Mrs C who endeavours to share my funds, by spreading goodwill and my cash to family and friends. Mrs C also continues to remind me about my failures to sell HUR and TLW at their peaks. I therefore will be leaving PANR before the level of £4 is reached!!

@chessman2 - can you please clarify your comment about buying in institutional size... Did you attempt to buy “institutional size” but the stock wasn’t available or did you mean that you’d like to have bought in “institutional size” but being a PI (like most of the rest of us) funds were restricted? Regards, The Priest (a humble private investor) ;-)
