No mention of ORCA, Looks like another contract lost
(April 2006 Orca Wins IPTV Agreement with Leading Spanish Broadband Operator Jazztel)

23 January 2007

Spain's Jazztel Launches VOD with Kasenna's PortalTV

"Traditional "middleware" solutions have a heritage that is based on "let's start at the STB and move backwards." The result was a heavy client application and a "hard coded", proprietary backend infrastructure based on non-standard, custom development tools and technology. Early operators with these solutions now struggle tremendously with scalability, workflow management, adding new consumer applications, customizing the user interface, integrating with OSS/BSS infrastructure and much more."

iqs exactly what debt do orca have , please clarify before spouting off!!! the ip is worth more than 10p imho and the order book is increasing even losing some contracts now 6.5m, we will see but you cant tell some people, why do you think comverse a big company are looking at orca.their tech is market leading and the company is cheap, they will want it to add it to their packages. do some research please!!!!

IQS, please list the competitors that are doing much better than ORCA? ORCAs solution works commercially check the rns's, they have lost some contracts but that is because they were not economical, small numbers.

so you dont bother with debt then when working out cash per share. And you assume that despite losing 5p per share in the first half they wont have lost anything in the 2nd. Well doesnt seem like a smart move to me but if youre happy doing that then good luck to you. If you say the IP is worth 10p then thats £3.5M. Thats unbelieveable to me given that thia IP generated £0.5M of revenues and lost £1.7M in only 6 months. Why would I pay anything for IP such as that

we will see, what you are missing is blz hold 60% of orca so any deal will have to be done through them and they will want to see a reasonable bid, cash at present = 34p per share allowing for recent trading, ip is worth more than 10p imho as iptv is a quickly developing market and yes orca are good at it so 45p is not unreasonable. the fact they are still in discussion about a t\o is a good sign and some kind of deal appears to be made.

I was vaguely interested until I saw all these price targets of 45p and 60p which motivated me to post. I think these targets are completely ridiculous and are just ramping. Its not as if this is a biotech or something. There seem to be a lot of competitors with similar products that are doing much better than orca. Thats why I think the IP may not be worth anything at all. And if the company lost another 10 cents this half year as it did in the first half then there may not be much more than 20p cash

DYOR.

And answer the question why are you interested then?

Revenues at half way stage were $914,000. So thats what, less than £500,000. And losses were $3,300,000, about £1.7M. Abysmal.

Is the IP any good. Doesnt seem to be looking at the last results. Revenues are tiny. They are in US dollars so divide by 2 to convert into £s. I think youre dreaming if you think anyone would pay 45p per share.

IQS, so why are you interested?

They would get alot more than 20p in a takeover, it would be cash plus IP and customers. IPTV will be big business. If somebody wants one of the top middleware players proven record and expert knowledge then they will pay $50-$100M no problem. IPTV is here and the telco's want an end to end system, just look at Ericsson's purchase of Redback! Motorola and Commverse will not get left behind.

This co is heavily loss-making. As colinhy points out its losing business to its rivals. Whats cash per share now if you include the debt and ongoing losses. Maybe 20p and not sure if theyd even get that in a takeover.

dont blame you any bid will be much higher than the current share price , blz won't let it go cheaply and they don't need to. it sounds like comverse really want this otherwise talks would have ended within a couple of days as they did at ada.minimum 45p bid if it happens and even then i think blz will refuse wanting around 80p imho

Shows what the value could be.

Orca in talks with prospective buyers
The share rose 33% on Friday to give a market cap of $14 million, 20% of its IPO value.
Tali Tsipori 14 Jan 07 14:53
Emblaze Ltd. (LSE: BLZ) subsidiary Orca Interactive Ltd. (AIM: ORCA) announced on Friday, "The board can confirm it has received preliminary approaches expressing an interest in the company. The board would like to highlight that negotiations are at an early stage and that there can be no certainty that any formal approach for the company will be forthcoming."
Last Thursday, media reports claimed that Comverse Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: CMVT) was interested in acquiring Orca. Many industry sources were skeptical that a company the size of Comverse would be interested in Orca, a company that has yet to prove itself or demonstrate that its products add value.

gem, had a look at bek yes cash looks good although cash burn doesn't and lack of share price movement for some time and unable to get stock in any volume is a concern. think there are better alternatives at this moment imho but interesting none the less . think it will move up someday when it becomes a cash shell, akthough overheads need trimming massively in that event.
back to orca little or no press coverage, typical of these so called pundits missing a bargain,

still time to get in here at 21p it's mkt cap is only 7m with around 10 mill in cash in the bank plus value of the ip they have. looking for at least 40p people have missed this so far and mms haven't marked it up enough , nav is 54p!!!!!!!! and blz will only sell on reasonable offers as they own 60% of orca. will be amazed if its not blue first thing monday and continues up for a while

maybe but at least there is an outer now. A disastrous investment for me over the last 2 years. Hopefully the end is in sight
Incidentally BEK was mentioned elsewhere as a play on cash, I think only valued at 3rd of cash or thereabouts
