19/9/2006 08:31 | IPTV is a growing market but the IPTV market does not want the products offered by ORCA. Why then would anyone want to buy/takeover ORCA ? | colinhy
19/9/2006 08:25 | Cheers, still represents a years worth of trouble, I just opened up a guarenteed stop bet @ 13p - happy with that. Risk reward balances. | twigden
19/9/2006 08:20 | Net cash isnt 10M. They've conveniently ignored the liabilities to get that figure. Id say its prob about 7M (if you add more losses on from the half year end). | hugepants
19/9/2006 08:18 | If you think there is a market and success in there somewhere, then 13p represents a good buying price with net cash of £ 10million, it can afford another couple of years of disaster during which it may get bought out | twigden
19/9/2006 08:18 | Another AIM stock where the guidance has zero basis in reality (record order books etc). I hope the for "sale signs" are up. | hugepants

18/9/2006 14:48 | Playing with myself again. Current market cap at 21.5p and 35.5M shares in issue = 7.6M Approx $18M (£9.5M) net cash at end Dec 05. Thats 27p Note the results state 21.3M net cash at year end. However not sure that includes all debt. $20M is more prudent. Loss for the year to Dec 05 was $3.5M = £1.85M = 5.2p So if loss this year matches last year then ORCA should still have around 22p cash at end of this year. With tax losses and the business valued at less than zero its quite a compelling valuation. I guess we'll know a bit more tomorrow! PS Adamind looks even cheaper. 25p to buy , net cash of 34p | hugepants
18/9/2006 11:46 | If anybody has any questions, I will be speaking to ORCA (haggai) later in the week. | ericthecat
16/9/2006 11:51 | Microsoft still having problems with their IPTV solution "Software from Microsoft is a key part of the TV set-top box that Verizon is marketing to millions of customers in seven states. But during the two years the project has been in development, the phone company became so frustrated with delays and technical glitches with Microsoft's technology that it replaced some of Microsoft's personnel and software with its own, according to people familiar with the matter. Verizon now has programmers working on the project at its facilities in Texas and India. Verizon took those steps because it feared the project would otherwise have slipped behind schedule, people close to the phone company say. Moving quickly on TV service is crucial to Verizon because it's in a race with cable operators to provide an all-in-one package of phone, TV and high-speed Internet access. The difficulties with Verizon are a setback for Microsoft, which has had limited success in its massive efforts over the years to become as important a player in the emerging world of living room set-top boxes as it already is in personal computers. Verizon officials wouldn't comment specifically on Microsoft's work, but they acknowledge they are developing software themselves that they initially expected to have been developed by Microsoft." | colinhy

14/9/2006 08:29 | No wonder ORCA is not announcing deals, every contract is being won buy their competitors. After experimenting with Microsoft Telus choose Minerva middleware. "Telus has engaged Nortel to help it integrate the components of an IPTV system, enable SIP-based voice over IP services, and create a migration path to a converged IMS-based platform. Telus has been experimenting with IPTV, relying on a system provided by Alcatel and Microsoft, but has opted to go with Nortel to integrate an open, standards-based IPTV network. Ken Couch, Nortel director of marketing for IPTV, said Telus will rely on some of its own preferred vendors, though there is some commonality with some of Nortel's partners. For example, Telus will source middleware from Minerva Networks." 08/9/2006 07:38 | New product catalogue but nothing about a new contract Orca Extends Support for Flexible Business Models to Enhance IPTV Operator Revenue Generation IBC 2006 Sept. 8, 2006 The Product Catalog, an Enhanced Business Management System Introduced at IBC, Expands RiGHTv Capabilities to Improve Operator Business Management This may partly explain why ORCA is losing contracts "The conversion of in-house IPTV Middleware packages to merchant packages is also having a strong effect on the IPTV market. PCCW's package (marketed by its Galaxy subsidiary) is now a leading package. Telefonica's Middleware package (marketed by Lucent) is becoming another strong contender. Microsoft's Middleware, however, continues to attract the closest scrutiny due to delayed rollouts at AT&T and Deutsche Telecom." | colinhy
