19/12/2006 11:27 | Emblaze will always find a way to get money out of this company. The only thing I am not sure; if the small shareholders will be a part of it? Something will happen in the first quarter of 2007! I hope it is good news also for us? | eenmakkie
18/12/2006 09:20 | Another Orca partnership that got nowhere. Seachange using TV Navigator Four middleware With its record of failure to keep existing contracts / partnerships and a growing number of middleware competitors winning contracts an Orca takeover is extremely doubtful. | colinhy
17/12/2006 20:31 | All takeover rumors aplaid to Adamind can also be aplaid to Orca. Only problem is Emblaze that has a lot of shares in Orca. And they have other ideas with Orca, maybe a reverse takeover from one of the companies of Formula Systems. It would make sense to take some money out of Formula Systems which they paid to much for. So far, Motorola has made two acquisitions to extend further into the market for supplying higher-margin devices and services to business and government customers. Inder Singh, an analyst at Prudential Equity Group, believes that Motorola could make other small acquisitions to add services to its cable set-top-box business or expand Internet TV offerings to telecom carriers. | eenmakkie

28/11/2006 09:19 | Its great to see some good news for Orca. Orca Interactive Selected by Sonaecom for Portugal's First IPTV Service Clix SmarTV Assumes IPTV Service Control, Independence and Flexibility With Orca's Latest RiGHTv Release RA'ANANA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Orca Interactive (LSE: ORCA), a global market leader in developing middleware and applications for IPTV, announced today that its IPTV middleware RiGHTv has been deployed for the first IPTV service in Portugal by Clix, the mass market brand of Sonaecom, a major telecommunications provider. Clix SmarTV will offer live broadcast television and radio channels, an electronic programming guide (EPG), video on demand (VOD) and subscription video on demand (SVOD). The service has been successfully deployed in the cities of Lisbon and Porto. All major cities in Portugal will be covered in the full commercial deployment that is expected to reach a large subscriber base in 2007. Sonaecom is using Orca's RiGHTv release 4.5 that includes such benefits as: Accelerating the time to market of new IPTV applications and services by using Orca's IPTV Service Delivery Platform (SDP) Enabling rapid User Interface modifications and STB porting via the RiGHTv Subscriber User Interface Software Development Kit (SUI SDK) Complete integration into the operator's OSS / BSS environment using standards-based APIs Robust integration with Video server and CA / DRM A rich interactive TV application suite To provide Sonaecom with a solution at a short time to market, RiGHTv plug-in architecture allowed rapid integration and central management of value chain components. The solution value chain includes Amino and Kreatel/Motorola set-top boxes, Tandberg's SkyStream encoders, Kasenna video server, and Widevine content protection over the network architecture of Huawei. "Orca's flexible middleware allowed us to develop our own user interface that fits the Portuguese market, and promotes and differentiates our brand," said Susanna Barbato, Managing Director of IPTV services at Sonaecom. "Due to its openness we were able to preview a number of value chain components during trials to achieve a best of breed solution." "Sonaecom wants service flexibility and independence, this was a major factor in their choice of Orca," said Haggai Barel, CEO, Orca Interactive. "RiGHTv's SUI SDK has given Sonaecom the ability to develop their own SUI on various STBs, the middleware's APIs allowed them to conduct the CRM and billing integration, and they were able to independently install the solution on their preferred hardware platforms that were not certified by Orca prior to the project. Sonaecom also upgraded to the latest RiGHTv version on their own." | colinhy
21/11/2006 09:48 | tendering for a few, the biggest near term is chunghwa which is decided 1Q 2007. worth a buy because of cash and increasing revenues for next year but my guess is they will be bought out @ 50p sometime next year? | ericthecat
20/11/2006 16:49 | I haven't really looked at this since mid 40's. Companies like this always at risk of missing revenue targets, anybody get a sense of big contracts they could be tendering for? At 14.5p it is looking interesting, any thoughts would be most welcome... | deep powder
09/11/2006 21:32 | NOVEMBER 09, 2006 Moto's Shopping for IPTV Middleware Motorola Inc.is shopping around for an IPTV middleware vendor to buy, according to several industry sources. It makes sense that Motorola would be scouting for opportunities, says Heavy Reading analyst Rick Thompson. "There are still several major players out there that don't have an IPTV middleware platform -- all those players are potential buyers and it would certainly include Motorola," says the analyst. "It's a long shot to assume it would try to retool its cable middleware product for telcos." Thompson says a short list of possible acquisition targets can be derived just from identifying the current unattached players. "From a logical perspective you'd have to think of Minerva, Espial Group Inc. , Orca and a few other smaller players that are a little less visible, but that might pop up on the radar screen." | colinhy
08/11/2006 08:40 | CodeBaby and Orca Interactive Partner Orca Interactive will now market CodeBaby's IPTV Customer Care Solution as an enhancement of its RiGHTv open middleware platform for delivering and managing interactive TV services. Operators and service providers choosing Orca's RiGHTv solution can now include the interactive customer care and customer training capabilities to support IPTV end users efficiently and drive customer adoption of advanced, next generation IPTV applications and services, while reducing the need for customers to talk to live agents when they need support. Orca Interactive selected CodeBaby for its reputation in deploying successful e-care virtual agents for leading telcos and broadcasters, and for the ease of deployment of these virtual agents. CodeBaby will become a member of Orca's Interactive Alliance partner program. Orca Interactive seeks to partner with best-in-breed solutions such as CodeBaby to promote cooperation among IPTV industry leaders and provide comprehensive future-proof solutions. "The combination of Orca and CodeBaby is a requirement for operators looking to encourage rapid adoption and consumption of IPTV services without having to staff up expensive support centers. Leading operators will now be able to train customers on devices as needed rather than simply hoping that customers are able to figure out how to use complex services on their own. This combined solution allows operators t o deliver the highest quality end user experiences and substantially shorten their customers' learning curve which is essential to drive adoption and ARPU," says Armin Gebauer, Vice President Converging Services, CodeBaby. "The openness of the RiGHTv' architecture was critical in that it allows such interactive customer care opportunities with CodeBaby agents to be realized." "By partnering with CodeBaby we are simply giving operators and service providers more options for better IPTV solutions that increase subscriber loyalty and revenues," says Eyal Adanya, director of business development, Orca Interactive. "Orca's RiGHTv SDP architecture allowed for a smooth integration of the CodeBaby application, enabling operators to improve the customer experience. We are sure CodeBaby will add attractiveness to our Interactive Alliance portfolio with this innovative and intuitive approach to on-device customer care and support." | colinhy
