31/8/2006 09:48 | ORCA could certainly do with some meaningful contract wins as this would go some way in confirming that they are still veruy much part of this space. On the plus side any such wins would almost certainly result in a significant upswing for the share price which on such low volumes would be interesting. | admarky2

28/8/2006 22:21 | Taken from a BB discussion on 'Light Reading' ref Cisco. Posters are talking about the merits etc of various 'middleware' offerings: Subject: Re: Cisco - MSFT- Espial, et. al. Date: 08/28/06 12:25 PM Rate This Post: From what I have seen in this industry- MSTV v1 was designed by the R&D team, which resulted in a classical "enterprise architecture" to assume strong device like a PC and a network to enable an always-connected services. Since the R&D team of MSTV is not experienced with telco architecture, their product is overloading the STB and the network. MSTV's customers are now willing to wait a full year with the hope that v2 (after a major rewrite) will be a telco-grade product. It will be interesting to see whether the customers of MSTV will also accept the attitude of MSTV to say "Take our TV-UI, as we know best usability". Orca's Products are based on Oracle, based on telco-grade fundamentals, they benchmarked their middleware with HP and proved scalability Myrio's Products were designed for MySQL and only recently migrated to Oracle without a redesign. Myrio also use a cable architecture for the client to force JVM in the STB. My last comment is about the term "middleware", which is excessively used. The problem is that even Espial is using it, while they are just "STB middleware" (i.e. no server side technology). | verytense

24/8/2006 15:04 | AUGUST 23, 2006 Will Cisco Make an IPTV Middleware Move? Microsoft isn't saying much about the potential threat of Cisco to its IPTV middleware business. "Microsoft has no comment on rumors," says spokesman Jim Brady. "Cisco is a part of the Microsoft IPTV ecosystem. Basically, they deliver the advanced set-tops and encoding solutions to the IPTV portfolio." So, of the many IPTV middleware platforms currently on the market, which would Cisco consider serious acquisition targets? Our sources say the field can be narrowed to just a handful whose products have already been reality tested at actual telco video deployments. One clue might lie in the middleware platforms that already integrate with Widevine content security. According to Widevine, these include Orca Interactive Ltd. and Minerva Networks Inc. Widevine interoperates with Kasenna Inc. VOD servers, but apparently not specifically with the Kasenna middleware platform. Widevine also integrates with Myrio Corp. middleware, but Myrio was taken out of the game by Siemens AG last April. | colinhy
16/8/2006 08:37 | Lucent has removed Orca from its web Page on IPTV. I shouldn't be to concerned about this. I remember a few years back Lucent did a similar thing with another product yet they were still selling the product. It may they are under arrangement to market their product under the Lucent brand name. | suncanaria
09/8/2006 15:17 | Still here BB, Personally I do not think anything has gone wrong. Somebody has sold a few any selling on this share drags the price down as there is so little trading the mm's do not want to get lumbered with stock and will only let you sell 5k before the price drops. There will be no news til september when orca should announce new contracts, H1 figures will be relatively poor so I will buy some more between now and then as sales will come. ORCA are doing pretty well with some good contracts won and more to come, This is below cash a a good buy at this price it may well get taken over, its a huge growth market over the next 5 years. | ericthecat
09/8/2006 14:02 | Maybe the news is bad but somebody sees light at the end of the tunnel 200,000 bought in 1 hour. What next?? | dexter9
09/8/2006 13:36 | We need Eric back to start cheerleading this crock of a share. The Lucent news is obviously bad. I think this time it could well be terminal - I can not see a future for ORCA I am afraid. Bigboys will simply swot them away and give away the middleware. There is nowhere left for them to run. | britishbear
09/8/2006 13:06 | I think its about 26p per share. Or maybe more | rangers99
09/8/2006 12:59 | what is Orca's cash value in sterling per share?? | bluesky4
09/8/2006 12:27 | Well done Eli. Screwed us yet again. | istanbully
09/8/2006 12:00 | Dunno whats goin on but glad I dumped at 37 and 33. At sub cash levels looks interesting again once we know wot caused the drop. | lumpsucker
09/8/2006 11:57 | Plop, plop. Is there no end to the madness. Eli and BLZ have an uncanny knack of floating off dogs (ORCA and ADA) and now poor ZIP holders (including me). | britishbear
26/7/2006 14:25 | PONG Lucent has removed Orca from its web Page on IPTV. Now reads "Dynamically adapt and brand the scalable middleware Subscriber User Interface (SUI) from Lucent as you see fit - Maximizing the value of your brand with consumers." "Middleware solutions for IPTV from Lucent provide customizable, and scalable user interface solutions for consumers." was "Dynamically adapt and brand the scalable middleware Subscriber User Interface (SUI) from Lucent and Orca Interactive as you see fit - Maximizing the value of your brand with consumers." "Middleware solutions for IPTV from Lucent and Orca Interactive provide customizable, and scalable user interface solutions for consumers." Also the Lucent press release today only refers to the Lucent "Imagenio" IPTV and not ORCA "A strategic agreement to support Telefonica's IPTV service rollouts worldwide, assume responsibility for the future development and deployment of Telefonica's "Imagenio" IPTV middleware platform and market the platform to the broader, global service provider community. Lucent Worldwide Services will serve as the prime network integrator for Telefonica as it introduces Imagenio in additional markets." Can't be long before ORCA goes "POP" | colinhy |
