Depends on the purpose of the director and what value they can bring? I am happy with the update, numbers are good, let's see if 2019 sees the Tanzanian asset sold and what happens in Mexico?

A bit silly to take on an extra Director when you are planing to sell up , typical of this company , get those assets sold you know it makes sense Mr Booth .

Sounds like a scaling down of operations and cost savings. We know the resource sector is moving to crypto and blockchain with companies like Ophir not exempt .You know its coming but how they do it is the interesting part..Takeover cancelled is an indication of a change in direction imo.

Yes, Ophir is being transformed from the old deep water exploration model to a lower risk production model.

I'd guess they're talking about a free carry arrangement for Mexico, to get a nil-risk roll of the dice, albeit for a smaller potential reward.

I wonder if they are in talks also about Tanzania? Maybe early days discussions? I'm sure they'd like to exit but won't want to undervalue that big gas contingent resource.

There's financial capacity for another acquisition.

As for the Medco approach, which way it will go - will they bid or not? The update reads like a business with good prospects - like the management want to continue with this transformation. On the other hand, everything has its price. I'm inclined towards them bidding, as I feel Medco have gone too far to walk away without giving it a try. My dream scenario is that a Medco bid prompts someone who will assign greater value to that Tanzanian gas.

Good trading update - positive all around. I would have preferred a more aggressive target for 2019 - just a mute 25k bpd seems very specific and a low base. Should have included a top range estimate to / best case.

Well that blows a hole in Medcos case for 48.5p.

Nothing surprises me in the Update other than the implied Mexico farmout.

Yup. Strong update. Bidders will need to move quick with cash coming in potentially from monetising.

Beats all expectations. Net debt down to $35m and production 4500bopd above guidance. Santos acquisition was a game changer. Also like the way OPHR BoD are under promising and over delivering on their forecasts, trend coming out here.

Another key bit is about the ongoing negotiations to bring in cash by monetising stuff.

This should move up towards 60-70p without Medco sniffing around. Materially undervalued.
