What you fail to understand is that any money spent on installing and maintaining Robotics for picking and packing, takes literally years and years to recoup, especially when compared to paying human beings to do exactly the same job.

It has been spending on adding more automation to warehouses in recent years. Within its Bradford centre, which is among its largest facilities with an estimated 1m square feet of space, it built a new automated warehouse.

A spokesman for the retailer said: “Modernising our supply chain is a key pillar of our strategy to reshape M&S for growth, so we always keep an eye on what’s in the market, but this is nothing more than that.”

Latest data compiled by the market researcher GfK warns of a direct correlation between the Labour Government's downbeat rhetoric about the forthcoming Autumn Budget and a growing reluctance by households to spend on non-essential items including dining out, new clothing and new footwear

Neil Bellamy, consumer insights director at GfK said ”shoppers of all ages are incredidbly worried that the Budget is going to take money out of their pockets with huge tax rises”

This view is also shared by the influential Institute of Directors (IoD) business group which last week warned that talk of imminent tax rises has "dented UK consumer confidence ever since Labour came into power".

A new survey by International Supermarket News (ISN) has unveiled the UK’s most popular supermarkets, and OCADO is not one of them !!



The survey collected responses from 500 randomly selected shoppers, highlighting overall customer satisfaction in areas like value for money, service, and product quality.

Unsurprisingly OCADO was not even mentioned by respondents.
