It looks as if Kroger Albertson deal could be done providing the divestment is big enough to satisfy politicians and Regulators. The question is how advanced is Albertson's interrnet shopping service compared to K's?

I do wonder why the CEO hasn't been replaced? What value does the CEO bring to the share price - the accelerated rollout USA is now on pause; robotic orders still to be reported.

Today Ocado issues a block listing, same day share price drops to 500p. 50 % drop since Amazon were rumored to be looking at bidding for the business.

How many times do we see others gaining from shareholders?

50 % drop in share price needs the Board to act- new CEO who delivers rather than promises good returns. The current CEO has had long enough to shine and has losses to dhow for it - Ocado needs a CEO who can quickly turn it around and creates vslue.
The %100m bonus scheme for CEO should be pulled to reflect the recent 50% drop in share price Bonus should be earned not a guaranteed payout.

(Sharecast News) - Ocado was under the cosh on Monday after Barclays downgraded shares of the online supermarket to 'underweight' from 'equalweight' and slashed the price target to 430p from 680p, pointing to a "particularly challenging" valuation.
The bank said it has spoken to a number of industry experts and built a differentiated customer fulfilment centre (CFC) contract roll-out model across all of Ocado's Tech Solutions contracts.

"What we do not debate is that Ocado's grocery technology is market-leading and its Re:Imagined program should improve this further," it said.

"However, our main conclusions from our expert conversations and analysis are: (1) Ocado's medium-term guidance is at risk from existing customer CFC/ module roll-out delays, (2) new customer pipeline is limited in grocery space - and Autostore (covered by Tim Lee) is getting more competitive, and (3) non-grocery deals may be signed soon - but we are sceptical about how much this can scale in the near term without a clearer go-to-market strategy.

"At the same time, (4) Ocado's impending debt maturity wall means that its operating trends in the next 12 months will have an amplified effect on valuation, and (5) current Amazon/Autostore trial in the US presents a significant negative tail-risk that is not well understood."

Barclays noted that the shares are at a discount of around 80% to September 2020 highs, while its price target is a discount of around 55% to the recent July 2023-highs.

"So why UW here? Valuation is particularly challenging given the lack of free cash flow support, in our view, and sentiment matters as much as earnings momentum."

Has to be a decent entry level I would suggest. Forecasts are looking robust albeit still non profitable at the moment. Christmas looming too which will no doubt still be bumper.

Another downgrade, however, when Ocado was trading at £8 to£10 the analysts could be accused of missing out of an investment?

As for medium target miss - CEO cannot avoid responsibility and should go. Signing an exclusive deal has handcuffed Ocado in USA from leverage ip to other grocers?

If you consider Autostore signed a deal with Ocado for robotic ip why did Ocado spend over £200m buying two firms in USA when it could have signed ip deals with the same firms?

Where is the rollout of robot orders?

The Board needs to take control and appoint a new CEO who can hot the targets.

Isn't it sensible for Kroger to stall the rollout of Ocado's cfc ahead of Albertson's takeover and for a new cfc plan to be agreed?

The exclusive deal needs to be rewritten so Ocado can sell their bots to other grocers in North America. The bond repayment due next year needs to be addressed now.

How has Ocado leveraged its 2 robotic buys. When will the US firms be profitable?
Too many times CEO thinks big and seems to mismanage delivery - the CEO isn't UK's answer to Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos. Shareholders need to see a better team running the business who will hit deadlines and focus on profit before Empire building. The IP should provide a barrier to entry - Profit before Empire building.

If you look at Ocado's past missteps: fires at UK cfcs (Abdover reportedly didn't have a sprinkler system?); Retail unit's performance cause for M&S to negotiate a saving on the last tranche payment from M&S; Australian cfc £150m over budget and late, Kroger cfcs allegedly under performing.
The problems seem to go to the CEO and he needs to resign and let a more experienced person run the business. The sooner the better.

Ocado needs to move its HQ to US to reflect where its next big focus/revenue stream should be generated; closer to its big customers and partners.
