The sun and wind makes a pleasant change that will help dry out the increasing mud around here. The stand I was in last night had the floor soaked and slippery all the way up to the back row. I've never seen anywhere near that before. Fortunately it eased off as I parked up but the the pitch was difficult throughout the game. I'm not sure why we collapsed to a more energetic struggling team in the second half. We sometimes look tired towards the end and the heavy pitch seemed to cause that from around 55 minutes. I'd be recommending more fitness training if our sometimes slow possession football is not encouraging us to be as fit as other teams. I noted the rivers had burst their banks properly on the way home.

I seem to have recovery arranged ok but repair (assuming it willturn out to be the same problem) is delayed several days by too much other work in the system. I had a choice of sites - 3 weeks at one or 8 days at the other - possibly longer once they assess and order parts. There must be a lot of other car trouble about. Are there any UK companies listed that deal with car parts and repairs?

Almost back to evens on the day thanks to a nice little jump from CUSN and a couple of others.

I managed to step on my first landmine of the year, a poor, excuse filled update from reach which is competing with DLG for loser of the day. Not a big holding for me, but disappointing enough. Rain continues some local flooding possible

Good old M27 "Smart" motorway at a standstill yet again, sounds like they have completely closed one Eastbound section, so all other local roads are now jammed.

Aleman, sorry to hear of your car troubles, they can certainly be a pain.

DF, Hope they manage to sort out your "unique" spot!

Talking of unique, we had this fellow sitting in a pot yesterday afternoon and we believe he is a Redpoll.

Morning All.

DLG update not done great things to AV. which is amongst my larger holdings. BDEV not great either and even SBRY having a wobble after stating Profits expected to be towards upper end of guidance range

Good morning. I'm not sure if that is a profit warning from STCM or just a ridiculous market reaction. Cold wintery weather can affect cement deliveries and there is cost inflation around. We already know this! But they've mentioned it so is that a warning? The shares have opened well down, anyway.

Mrs A has rung to say the small car has broken down with the same problem they fixed under warranty last winter (just a tiny bush that had crumbled on the gear change). She was on the road outside work when it gave out. It seems ironic given my comments about cars breaking down all over the place a few days ago and DLG's warning this morning. It should be covered under the original warranty and possibly the warranty on the repair, too, which could be an extra claim for some insurer providing the warranty if it is not cevered directly by the dealership. I asked 3 times if they'd done the bush on the other side as both sides come in the kit. 3 times I got "Don't know, we'll check." I suspect we got the answer this morning.

Tobacco seemed to be going up in smoke.

Had the plumber this afternoon and then a visit to the doc for him to look at an odd spot on my arm. He is mystified, so an appointment with a dermatologist will follow. He says that he has never seen anything like it.

Light rain all day.

I had a wonderous day, considering the market was down a bit. 4%+ at BGO and PLUS and a whopping 13%+ (on no news) at IGR helped me to +1.5%.

It warmed up when the persistent rain finally finished after lunch. It's 11.4C and still rising, after 4.0C. So it's warmed up for football but it's looking like more rain is due after raining a lot today already. I hope the drainage copes. Some wind is expected, too, so it could be one of those lottery games.

Portfolio -0.72% , very poor day, hefty falls for BATS, VID, WIX, AAL and RS1....no real gainers.

Miserable weather day as well, dark and dank, actually felt warmer outside than indoors 14C.

Gave the wet room a thorough seeing to.

Liver and onions tonight plus the final episode of the excellent 'Mystery Road'

We've had a pothole near the entrance to our trading estate for a few weeks and I noticed the latest downpours have opened it right up so have reported it this afternoon. See how long that takes although, to be fair, they are usually pretty good once it has been properly reported.

One advantage of rising interest rates, just sorting out the statements for our business savings accounts and on one I notice we were only getting about £26 per month in interest at the start of the year and £154 per month by December. Will be quite a difference across them all!
