16/1/2023 12:09 | Affinity water are useless it took them 4 attempts to fix a leak in the road near me over the summer, each time with road closed signs and no sign of workers for most of the day, | malcolm caton
16/1/2023 11:59 | Hope you have better luck than us phil. Water company took six weeks to come out and sort out a raised manhole in the road, only to do the wrong one! Took another six weeks for them to come back and do the right one! | mrphil
16/1/2023 10:24 | It's snowing on hills all around here now - Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Yorkshire Wolds. We just have cloud and a cold wind. Rural road cams show several white roads on higher ground. UK gilts yields are up about 0.5% across the board. The B of E is selling about £650m of its Asset Purchase Facility bonds each week in Q1 - so about £9bn+ in total in Q1 out of the UK's £1800bn national debt. This will be tending to artificial keep bond market (and mortgage) rates up - possibly for many months to come if it continues, which could deepen and lengthen any recession. | aleman
16/1/2023 09:11 | Good morning. Frosty and sunny start but a weakening front approaching that is dropping a little snow on The Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. It was bitter walking into the wind on the school run. I know a few people that have developed back ache during Covid. I'm getting a bit myself now sometimes even though I've worked from home for nearly two decades without bother prior to Covid. I hope your back and leg get better soon, MrP. blueliner - you get to concentrate on the league now. You must be pleased how that's going. I think you'll probably be visiting Valley Parade next season. Seems a slow news day so far. | aleman
16/1/2023 08:59 | Might your leg affect your posture MrP? I had a 5hr coaching session at david Lloyd which was fun but I was absolutely knackered by the end. Learned a few things but need to practice them in a match situation. Standard of 5 of 6 men and half of the ladies was decent enough to make it worthwhile. I was probably the best volleyer there which was pleasing as it’s part of my game that I’ve struggled with and worked on, but the others were undoubtedly stronger from the baseline. Watford somehow up to 3rd. Goal difference is only +5 and in reality we are only two poor results from mid table obscurity. | dr biotech
16/1/2023 08:48 | Good Morning. Wet, windy and cold here. Thanks MrP - it doesn't look like it will last long! | skinny
16/1/2023 08:46 | Nothing worse than back problems MrP, hope it gets better soon, Hard frost here this morning, -4c overnight. Off to a training course which will last the day. wllm :) | wllmherk
16/1/2023 08:35 | Morning All. Thanks for updating wllm, and well done Skinny for taking the lead! I tried tennis yesterday in the belief that gentle exercise might be what was needed for the leg and back. It was the leg I was more worried about as it's still a lot bigger than the other leg with plenty of purple still present. However, even without bending or moving, the back became very painful which, I presume, can only have been from the ball hitting the racket so I had to bow out after four very gentle games. Have sent an email to the consultant for advice, hope I don't just get bounced back to the NHS. | mrphil
16/1/2023 08:25 | Morning Thanks wllm for the update. Magpies out of the FA Trophy, losing on penalties to Maidstone at home, not good enough, I thought the policy was to advance in these cup competitions and field a full squad. Whether the manager was constricted by injuries or not. Plus our new loanee goalie was responsible for one of their goals. Sorry for those that turned out, all ticket, getting frostbite. | blueliner
16/1/2023 08:17 | Morning, Thanks for update willm. A wet start to the day before a forecast cold week, | malcolm caton
15/1/2023 17:59 | philanderer - yes, we're in the last play-off spot but worth noting only 7 points covers 4th to 15th so we are in a pack of 12 teams chasing 4 play-off spots. 2 have been splashing cash in January - Swindon and Stockport (both won) - whereas we've lost Tyreik Wright to warm the bench at Plymouth on 3 times as much money. I think he would probably look ok in the Championship. We've lent Jake Young (4 goals from 7 starts and 5 subs - our second best scorer) to Barrow who are amongst that 12. I think that's mad as he looked promising and we should not help rivals but he has not been getting picked and some say he was not getting on with Hughes so could be moving out next summer. We have a couple of new players in but I supect we are probably now a bit weaker while a few other rivals have strengthened. I'm not greatly optimistic. Apparently, the performance yesterday was not great even if a point playing with 10 men for half an hour should be a satisfactory return. We play badly as often as well. We'll be lucky to hold on to 7th. Given what we've spent we should be aiming for 3rd and anything below 7th would be a bad show for the budget - but that's been the case for several years! | aleman
15/1/2023 09:51 | Good Morning. A bright and dry start to the day @7C. Thanks wllm. | skinny
14/1/2023 16:32 | Thanks wllm | carpingtris
14/1/2023 16:04 | Thanks, wllm. I was talking about poor fitness after Tuesday's Rochdale loss on a heavy pitch. I've seen a table of Bradford results on first half and second half scores. 3 points clear in top spot and 19th respectively. That speaks volumes to me! Windchills in Yorkshire have dropped below zero. The small showers blowing through very quickly are dropping snow in the Yorkshire Dales already and feel a bit sleety here. Winter's back! | aleman

14/1/2023 09:35 | Good Morning. I finished up 0.80%, +2.50% on the week and +4.89% YTD. Enjoy your weekend and stay warm and dry! | skinny
14/1/2023 09:27 | Good morning. Thanks for numbers D.F. and good luck getting your spot sorted out. Hope you get a rest soon, G. Looks slightly more wintery than predicted in N. Ireland this morning. Forecasts look to have edged slighly colder but maybe less snowy for the UK. The low forecast to run into the cold air over south/central England and possibly bring a big dumping of snow on its north and west edge is now not as big and headed more for the Channel? With a bit of luck NW winds will bring sun to southern and eastern areas so it could be chilly but nice out of the wind. The cold looks set to make it further south now - with widespread snow to Europe, including parts of the South and even North Africa. EU gas still edged a new 13 month low at the close. | aleman
13/1/2023 23:46 | Back late from my daughter's before her 3 week holiday on safari in Africa. Tennis tomorrow, haven't played this week due to a couple of migraines that seem to leave me very tired and lacking in energy. Similar story to carpingtris for my lot with DlG doing the damage. Funnily enough by reducing my holding in DLG, HFEL, became my largest holding so I trimmed that back a bit after its recent strength, ADIG, now my largest holding. Down -0.45% on the week and up +1.27% YTD, wllm :) | wllmherk
13/1/2023 21:53 | Little time at present for my portfolio of shares, with so much going on with both family and work. Letting dividends be automatically reinvested. No other trading to date this year. Top gainers this year are VOD & ABF which were my two poorest performing shares in 2022 The laggards this year, so far, are Renewable Energy and Tobacco. YTD is +3.04% Enjoy your weekends :-) | gateside
13/1/2023 19:41 | 6/7 on the quiz with a couple of guesses. I'm up +0.148% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.642%), up +1.57% on the week (FTSE100 +1.88%) and up +4.83% YTD (FTSE100 +5.26% and HIX +4.74%). Best rises: HLN +3.60%, TW. +1.86% and AZN +1.82%. Worst falls: AV. -1.66%, BATS -1.53% and PHP -1.22%. More reds than yesterday. Swings and roundabouts. I have a dermatology appointment on Monday 6th February. Quick turnround. Indications are that it is sun related. Keep dry tomorrow and enjoy the rest of the weekend. I'm about to watch the rugby, Clermont Augverne v. Leicester. DF | deanforester
13/1/2023 19:21 | Portfolio almost flat +£42 ....gainers AZN, RKT, ESNT, SMIN.....top fallers AAL, BATS and SBRY. +1.33% for the week, making +4.48% YTD. Very windy, mildish day 13C, ideal for getting all the washing done and dried. A few buds on the hydrangeas and blackcurrants showing but nothing yet on the flowering cherry tree. The remaining fallen leaves all seem to have disappeared with this strong wind. QPR at Reading tomorrow, not confident even with our new striker Jamal Lowe. Being treated to lunch out tomorrow and then a hike on sunday, somewhere not too muddy. Good weekend everyone. | philanderer
13/1/2023 19:20 | +0.85% folio, [FTSE All-Share +0.63%] CLIG +6%, IGR +11%, VANL +8%, were the clear winners. On the week +2.05% Shares of the week: With a strong showing from resource stocks, BERI +7.5%, but its IGR +21.4% who is the winner. Folio YTD +4.23% Celebrity/esteemed deaths seem to be peppering my age group lately or was it always like this this but I didn't take much notice. RIP Jeff Beck, Olivia Newton John etc. | blueliner |
