3 or 4 days of grey gave way to sunshine at 3pm. It then warmed a few degrees to 15.2C. The ground here is baked now. Grass isn't growing and those Spanish bluebells are even sprouting out of the static lawns. Having taken more notice of them, about 95% or more of bluebells in the neighbourhood are the Spanish ones so we are lucky to have a few English ones on our garden. Given the two hybridise, I don't see the English ones lasting much longer. The Spanish ones are pretty - but they grow like weeds and are getting everywhere. One dandelion is pretty on its own!

Up all day but finished -0.1%.

Sounds like you had a fabulous time Shadowside, the weather can make such a difference.

We've obviously been spoilt with the weather here over the past week or so which has seen more sun than cloud. Looking out of the window it is the most glorious afternoon/evening so I am feeling quite guilty. Bit nervous about the weekend though as we're off to Devon, including a trip across to Lundy Island to (hopefully) see the Puffins!

My SIPP finished up 0.59%.

Another largely grey day with two spells of @10 minutes Sun mid afternoon @12°C.

We are actually forecast some Sun tomorrow, so may well have a run down to Hastings.

Happy with results today, SIPP +0.42% with BRCI, CLLN & GSK the top risers, and a very pleasant +0.92% for the pot thanks to RR., AMS & LGEN

Tennis this evening, in lovely sunshine by the look of it! :-)

By lunchtime another two gaillardia seedlings had been forcefully removed from their pots along with half the compost. Even more strangely, one Cosmos was missing from it's pot but found replanted in a nearby seed tray - and the wife assures me it wasn't her!

Got my Wembley tickets. A bunch on twitter have organised a standing section - illegal of course - and fans that didn't know and booked in the same area are livid. This has caused a lot of minor fights at away grounds in recent years. Authorities need to stop the standing or organise separate sections for it, which is a bit hard to do when standing is illegal! I must admit I'll get pretty riled if somebody blocks ny view at nearly £60 a seat.

Quite a shock to the system returning to a cold and grey North Yorks after a week of wall to wall sunshine in the Western Isles with temperatures in the high teens. We loved Mull. Mountains including a Munro, pure white sands, blue and turquoise waters. Cuckoos everywhere and a few early swallows. Even got used to single track roads by the end. Decided to take the A3 rather than the XF which was a good choice as it averaged almost 50 mpg on switchback single track where the XF would have struggled to get to 25. On the motorway they are much more evenly matched. We also got across to the Ardnamurchan Peninsular and from the top of the lighthouse on the Point you could quite clearly see the Outer Hebrides 50 miles away. We will go back but will struggle to get as good a weeks weather.

Pot seemed to manage OK on its own and ticked up another half percent to 8% YTD. Seems to be struggling more today.

Everything in the garden survived OK. I have most stuff in the greenhouses on capillary matting which works well for a week. Very dry outside though and we desperately need some rain. Maybe will get a little at the end of the week. Havn't checked our reservoir levels but if things get tough we always have the link to Kielder Water which is massive and was designed to support growth of the Chemicals Industry on Teeside which never materialised.

US definitely seems to be slowing and Trump making little headway with his expansionary plans so reality has to sink in soon.........maybe!

The good news is weak so it might be bad news. Food up. Everything else only just up.

I was in that Leeds suburban shopping centre yesterday. Still 6 units shut. (It was 9 after Christmas) Will they fill them all before more next Christmas's clsing down sales?

Yes - without knowing the draw down approach, I'd guess they use Bewl first as it is the largest?

Skinny, interesting it's only Bewl that looks to be below average levels, albeit by far the largest one.

Morning All.

Lovely day again yesterday but only 14.5°C which dropped to just 5.3°C last night. The seedlings are still out and are coping with the temperature but something (a blackbird we think) is scrabbling around in the pots and has uprooted some of the Gaillardia which hopefully I have replanted in time!

SIPP currently standing at an all time high in terms of overall value as this months monthly contribution has gone in.

Good morningn , all.

US growth was next to nothing in Q1 and things are getting worse. (UK numbers are still holding up pretty well but I don't see it lasting long with the way the US is slowing.)

+0.20% today. [FTSE250 +0.1%]

Highest value risers : SDV +2.7%, ASY +4.7%, SDI +7.7%, CLIG +1.4%, PHNX +1.3%.

Worst value fallers : ALT -8.5%, IGR -2.3%, BA. -1.5%.

Overcast and cold 10C, a fleeting attempt was made to break through. Lucky those in Wales, the West and Scotland must have had a day of unbroken sunshine. Long time since we have seen this anticyclonic set up last so long.

A tricky tie against Millwall Aleman, hope you prevail. Agree with your thoughts re location of national stadium, plenty of room, well served by MWay networks etc.

I countered a good portion of last week's 5 consecutive falls with +1.0% today. Only one small red.

Cold, grey and windy all day. 12.5C after 5.7C.

A comfortable 0-0 took the Bantams to Wembley. It's getting expensive at £30 (don't bother) to £80 plus booking fee and postage per seat so I don't think I'll pay around £210 (over £300 with non-ticket expenses) to take the whole family. It's the Bantams' 3rd visit and I don't like the new Stadium - the acoustics are poor, the view poor for half the fans behind the goals, the parking is expensive and the national stadium should be in Birmingham!

I'm up +0.306% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.047%) - a new high for me.

Best rises: MARS +2.17%, WMH +2.00% and SSE +1.76%.

Worst falls: PSON -1.62%, RIO +1.48% and BLT -1.32%.

That oil price has caused a fall in petrol prices.

I have been gardening today, got the machete out to hack a path to the front door, where the jasminium nudiflorum is getting rampant. Also cut out a lot of dead wood on our old forsythia. Next will be use of the bushman saw to attack the thicker bits. I was surprised to see a Long-tailed-tit land near me which I was out there.

Earlier big gains tailed off but still +0.56% for the SIPP with top risers SSE, CTO & UU. and also tailed off for the pot which managed +0.47% thanks to AMS, SGC & LGEN

Out this evening, will need to record Little Boy Blue

Investoree, thanks for that. I suspect I am going to end up changing lots of bits as the car is 44 years old so probably deserves some upgrades! I need to check what coil it has, as the car was fitted with electronic ignition before I bought it and I have a feeling that means the coil will be completely different? I know the alternator does have a funny turn from time to time so that definitely needs servicing, and I have found a specialist that services just alternators and starter motors so I think I'll get them both done anyway and see where we are after that. Trouble is, I have to find the time and inclination to crawl underneath the car at some point and we are away next weekend so something will have to give during an evening this week!

Love that Concorde cloud Skinny!

My lot seem to be having a good day :-)

Mr P - I own an old Hyundai Coupe (1996)and gradually changed everything that I and the garage could think of and when the only part that hadn't been changed was the coil to keep my costs down they transferred a coil from another vehicle and everything was well. A new coil was then fitted and touch wood no further problems. When they tried checking the old coil over a period of time they eventually discovered that the problems were caused by an intermittent fault on the coil.

Yes of course your right MrP - the more I think about it, my problem was the control box and the engine turned over very slowly.

Skinny, I'm no expert but I was thinking if it was coil that would just send a lower voltage to the plugs and wouldn't affect cranking speed?
