10/5/2017 17:59 | +0.52% for the Folio. [FTSE250 +0.30%]. Highest value risers : GVC +2.3%, QP. +7.1%, GSK +1.6%, CSN +1.6%, BT.A +1.9%. Worst value faller : CLIG -1.9%, BMS -3.5%. A late surge up for BT.A, results imminent? BMS had a good run of late, prelim results as expected, not surprised they have fallen back today. Summer arrived from W Scotland today, 18C max. | blueliner
10/5/2017 17:23 | Some US retailers still reporting pretty bad numbers, which suggests Q2 GDP will continue to be revised lower: | aleman
10/5/2017 17:02 | Wow! I'm up again. +0.6%. Widespread rises. It was sunny and warm from the off today, despite only 1.7C overnight. The 19.7C high about 3pm felt hot in the strong sunshine and minimal breeze. Been watering the garden again. | aleman
10/5/2017 17:00 | Very pleased with +0.72% for the SIPP taking it to a new all time high, BDEV fell out of the top risers leaving SSE, UU. & GSK to take the honours. In the pot, -0.98 as AMS couldn't cope with the dizzy heights recently attained. Not much on tonight so catch up with Little Boy Blue, but maybe after a walk in the beautiful sunshine. Can't believe we've had such a run of lovely weather of late. | mrphil
10/5/2017 14:18 | Luxury items clearly aren't struggling then... | mrphil
10/5/2017 12:38 | George Orwell was dead right! I can lay claim to a few of those xd's; BP., GSK, SBRY & CLLN :-) | mrphil
10/5/2017 08:54 | I guess it will always be the same in certain quarters Skinny. This is one way of making a profit I suppose. | mrphil
10/5/2017 08:38 | Glad I jumped aboard with BDEV back in January but just wish I had stuck to the original plan and doubled up shortly after rather than splitting the investment with CLLN! | mrphil
10/5/2017 08:00 | So pleased LLOY were forced to take over HBOS.....Noel Edmonds seeks £50m compensation over HBOS fraud | mrphil
10/5/2017 07:55 | Morning All. DF, our trusty old mower is now around 18 years old and rather than bin it we retired it a couple of years ago to our woods where we have an area we have allowed to go back to grass. The mower plows on through the long grass, twigs and anything else in its way, and I feel really guilty not to treat it to the odd service - last one probably 10 years ago! Nice to see BMS beating market expectations. We know which way the share price will head! | mrphil
09/5/2017 18:58 | I'm up +0.722% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.566%). Best rises: CLLN +4.87%, S32 +2.80% and AZN +2.28%. Worst falls: SSE -1.24%, LLOY -0.62% and MARS -0.55%. Presumably shorters are still getting out of CLLN which goes XD on Thursday. Miners had a good day. I saw two swifts heading north this morning. They are the first that I've seen this year. Tried to cut the grass, but the mower declined to start. Decided to treat it to a new spark plug, which brought it back to life. However I stopped to empty the grass box, and it refused to start again. Had lunch and a snooze and it came back to life. Same thing when I emptied the grass box, so I went to the village for some bird feed. My neighbour and I tried checking everything we could find, to no avail, then it suddenly recovered. I reckon that I bought it about 15 years ago, so it doesn't owe me anything. Time to retire it. DF | deanforester
09/5/2017 18:46 | +0.80% for me today. [FTSE250 +0.44%]. Highest value risers : GVC +2.5%, CLIG +2.7%, SDV +1.5%, CSN +1.8%, BLT +2.2%. Worst value fallers : BGO -2.2%, NXG -2.6%. Overcast again , max temp 11C, garden centres praying for some sunshine. Heating on again today. | blueliner
09/5/2017 17:50 | 3 or 4 days of grey gave way to sunshine at 3pm. It then warmed a few degrees to 15.2C. The ground here is baked now. Grass isn't growing and those Spanish bluebells are even sprouting out of the static lawns. Having taken more notice of them, about 95% or more of bluebells in the neighbourhood are the Spanish ones so we are lucky to have a few English ones on our garden. Given the two hybridise, I don't see the English ones lasting much longer. The Spanish ones are pretty - but they grow like weeds and are getting everywhere. One dandelion is pretty on its own! Up all day but finished -0.1%. | aleman
09/5/2017 17:16 | Sounds like you had a fabulous time Shadowside, the weather can make such a difference. We've obviously been spoilt with the weather here over the past week or so which has seen more sun than cloud. Looking out of the window it is the most glorious afternoon/evening so I am feeling quite guilty. Bit nervous about the weekend though as we're off to Devon, including a trip across to Lundy Island to (hopefully) see the Puffins! | mrphil
09/5/2017 17:02 | My SIPP finished up 0.59%. Another largely grey day with two spells of @10 minutes Sun mid afternoon @12°C. We are actually forecast some Sun tomorrow, so may well have a run down to Hastings. | skinny
09/5/2017 16:51 | Happy with results today, SIPP +0.42% with BRCI, CLLN & GSK the top risers, and a very pleasant +0.92% for the pot thanks to RR., AMS & LGEN Tennis this evening, in lovely sunshine by the look of it! :-) | mrphil
09/5/2017 16:45 | By lunchtime another two gaillardia seedlings had been forcefully removed from their pots along with half the compost. Even more strangely, one Cosmos was missing from it's pot but found replanted in a nearby seed tray - and the wife assures me it wasn't her! | mrphil
09/5/2017 14:27 | Got my Wembley tickets. A bunch on twitter have organised a standing section - illegal of course - and fans that didn't know and booked in the same area are livid. This has caused a lot of minor fights at away grounds in recent years. Authorities need to stop the standing or organise separate sections for it, which is a bit hard to do when standing is illegal! I must admit I'll get pretty riled if somebody blocks ny view at nearly £60 a seat. | aleman
09/5/2017 12:56 | Quite a shock to the system returning to a cold and grey North Yorks after a week of wall to wall sunshine in the Western Isles with temperatures in the high teens. We loved Mull. Mountains including a Munro, pure white sands, blue and turquoise waters. Cuckoos everywhere and a few early swallows. Even got used to single track roads by the end. Decided to take the A3 rather than the XF which was a good choice as it averaged almost 50 mpg on switchback single track where the XF would have struggled to get to 25. On the motorway they are much more evenly matched. We also got across to the Ardnamurchan Peninsular and from the top of the lighthouse on the Point you could quite clearly see the Outer Hebrides 50 miles away. We will go back but will struggle to get as good a weeks weather. Pot seemed to manage OK on its own and ticked up another half percent to 8% YTD. Seems to be struggling more today. Everything in the garden survived OK. I have most stuff in the greenhouses on capillary matting which works well for a week. Very dry outside though and we desperately need some rain. Maybe will get a little at the end of the week. Havn't checked our reservoir levels but if things get tough we always have the link to Kielder Water which is massive and was designed to support growth of the Chemicals Industry on Teeside which never materialised. US definitely seems to be slowing and Trump making little headway with his expansionary plans so reality has to sink in soon.........maybe! | shadowside
09/5/2017 12:32 | The good news is weak so it might be bad news. Food up. Everything else only just up. I was in that Leeds suburban shopping centre yesterday. Still 6 units shut. (It was 9 after Christmas) Will they fill them all before more next Christmas's clsing down sales? | aleman
09/5/2017 11:06 | Yes - without knowing the draw down approach, I'd guess they use Bewl first as it is the largest? | skinny |
