02/5/2017 09:20 | We had a local May day fair yesterday and it benefitted from not getting the rain forecasted. In fact we had 18.3C and sunny after a grey morning and a there was a good turnout. I'm pleased to say today has started like the first day of summer so many walked to school without coats. Anyone who took a look At ZAM when I bought a few might want to read this. I've opted out at a minimal profit but will continue to monitor. There should be a trading update soon. ZAM was supposed to be reintorducing a dividend but a bad harvest due to a pest not experienced before could hit margins in various areas of their agricultural business. | aleman
02/5/2017 08:54 | Good Morning. Yesterday was more like a typical April day - Sun,rain and showers. I see our forecast high for tomorrow is 10°C. Roll on Summer! | skinny
02/5/2017 08:33 | Morning All. Hope everyone had a great long weekend and enjoyed the reasonable weather? I thought the BP. results looked good, but the share price has risen....? ;-) | mrphil

29/4/2017 12:53 | Cheers, Shadowside. Stay lucky! I've had a lot of luck in recent years so a few months behind the indices is no big deal. DF's index updates (thanks) show me to be only slightly behind the HIX now and that is my main comparator. The tendency to compare myself to posters here is a bit misleading because most of you are doing quite well. Long may it continue. I hope you get good weather for Mull. It's gorgeous up there when sunny. | aleman
29/4/2017 09:31 | Good Morning. My SIPP finished down 0.22, +0.89% on the week and is +6.42% YTD. Today finally resembles a Spring day - lovely blue sky and the Sun feels quite powerful. Enjoy your weekend and enjoy Mull Shadowside. | skinny
29/4/2017 07:51 | Morning Mostly unchanged yesterday, but the week is showing up @ +1.27%. Folio YTD +6.15%. Withdrew my Bed & ISA instruction from Hargreaves Lansdown on day 2 and completed it myself with little stress. Having read their fact sheet realised it can take up to 4 working days for them execute, in this fast moving market which now includes AIM shares that is totally impractical. There was a time with HL when this could be done virtually over the phone, perhaps they are becoming to big for their boots. Holding clients ISA's are real moneyspinners for brokers as more tax legislation encourages their use as tax shelters. So far their [HL] easy to navigate platform/reputation has kept me with them for 20 years, no harm in looking around, as longstanding clients get no recognition. Quiz 4/7 for me, enjoy the break, remember Jeremy wants to introduce 4 more. | blueliner
28/4/2017 19:19 | I'm down -0.301% on the day today (FTSE100 -0.459%), up +0.59% on the week (FTSE100 +1.26%) and up +3.65% YTD (FTSE100 +0.86% but HIX -1.48%). Worst falls: VOD -1.53%, AZN -1.29% and RB. -1.15%. Best rises: BLT +1.86%, KGF +1.64% and RIO +1.06%. Good day for the miners, but not much else. 4/7 on the quiz for me. +6°C and cloudy this morning. about +12°C max and some rain after lunch, while I wa watching the cricket from Taunton. A good match. Somerset were 22 for 5 then won with about 5 overs to spare. Enjoy the weekend. DF | deanforester
28/4/2017 17:57 | Enjoy Mull Shadowside! | mrphil
28/4/2017 17:49 | Aleman, Mainly luck. I've been in this game too long to get too carried away with a few good months. Historically after a period like this I have tended to do rash things so this time I am sitting on my hands. Looking back over the last couple of years I have been reasonably successful at selling stuff which has subsequently fallen and if some of those stocks were still in the pot it would be having a negative impact. 28/4/2017 17:32 | That's a good show, Shadowside. What do you put it down to? My fear of recession has caused me to sell out of several shares too early in the last year or so, and lose out, while I've also had 3 hit by profit warnings which might be turn out to be slowdown/recession related with hindsight. Beware this year's poor showing, as I had a similar underperformance in 2007 when I was right about recession coming. At least I've avoided total losses so far this time. I had two in 2007/8. | aleman
28/4/2017 17:17 | Hope so Freddie but it does seem a very long suspension.Hard to judge without data. Reasonable day today rounding off a very good month with almost a 5% rise taking me to +7.2% YTD. No obvious theme and partly just things reverting after a poor March. Shock horror in the greenhouse today when I found some of the Blueberry plants covered in scale insects. Horrible things. Surprised it took me so long to see them but I guess what you don't look for you don't find. Seemed to come off OK with the jet setting on the hose so will have to watch for them coming back. One plant very heavily infected and maybe it arrived with them already present. Enjoy your weekends. I'm off to Mull bright and early monday morning. | shadowside
28/4/2017 17:17 | +0.1%. YTD -5.6% so same as last week. Good spells of sunshine. Minimal breeze. 15.3C after 2.7C. Could have cancelled a couple of junior tickets if I could get seats swapped but I order them all since they won't deal with me over the phone. I don't even know if everyone can turn up but hopefully I'll get paid. The EFL are putting ridiculous time pressures on play-off clubs to arrange and making fans suffer. It's all about the money for TV coverage these days. Just need to find out which day is at home and see if I can get there in time myself, now. Failing that, I'll be watching in the pub, I suppose, Have a good weekend. | aleman
28/4/2017 17:12 | freddie, obviously depends on the deal but yes I am hoping for a fair jump once suspension is lifted. I am certainly not displeased to have held on to some! | mrphil
28/4/2017 17:04 | Poor day. Some here seem bearish on DX., I am not, looking at MNZS the fit seems good and the new combined business will be very much larger, the question is synergies? Anyway when it comes back from this "temporary" (according to the company) suspension I expect it to be up a long way. Comments? | freddie ferret
