Getting, re the AA, as Buffett is quoted as saying

“When a management with a reputation for brilliance tackles a business with a reputation for bad economics, it is the reputation of the business that remains intact.”

Not Googled. My book on Buffett.

"and you've been way off the mark!"

I don't think so. I think I am spot on. That is why you don't like what I say - the truth hurts. Top professionals don't NEED to go on jollies all the time. Their business stimulates their needs and they would feel irresponsible in doing so.

Hi Getting.

Have a great trip to Vegas. The Yanks will be smarting a bit having been hammered in the Ryder Cup. Enjoy your golf.

We’ve finally decided on our Autumn break. A week based in Spoleto in Umbria which allows us to visit Perugia, Assisi and Orvieto. A friend brought us a couple of bottles of beautiful red from a village called Montefalco so want to visit there. I love Italian food and the weather looks very good. All’s right with the world.

I see our good friend, the one who doesn’t answer questions, has been googling again.

I agree about the AA. Poor results, hugely reduced dividend, lots of competition, new management promising the earth, not a share I would want to hold.

You have no idea about my discipline, experience or what I do for a living. You've had a number of wild guesses already, and you've been way off the mark! But remember you've revealed a number of things about yourself so I've got a good insight into your background and to say I'm unimpressed would be an understatement!

I don't buy negative yielding bonds. You just have to understand WHY investors do buy them. Once you understand why, you'll be a better investor. We had that discussion month's ago, not a few weeks!

First lesson is not to lose money. Correct. That is why AA will only occupy 2% of my portfolio.

You can try as hard as you like getting, I have experience here you'll never have. I have an investment method and an investment thesis that has been put to the test, altered and perfected over decades. I know it works. I can't lose, it is that good. It is based on sound principles and isn't broken through fear or greed. You need discipline and I doubt you have that. You don't have the persona for discipline or commitment IMO. You are too much of a good-time boy.

Minny, you never did recommend any of those negative yielding bonds you mentioned a few weeks ago? Can you provide some details on your favourite three please so we can all buy some and guarantee some good losses over the next year or so?

"The lower the better" - ah yes of course!
"Targeted 500% return" - err, didn't you tell us just the other day that your priority is not losing money, rather than targeting gains?
Just admit it, Minny, you're doing what you always do and concocting a story - the reality is you've bought another dog...

Oh, and actually, it will not go bust in the normal sense of business. It is a Whole of Business Securitization (WBS) - go and find what that means if you are interested.

1.70 would be a great buying opportunity.

Right on the level it bounced from in December 2017,
if that goes, might be looking near 1.70 ?.

Great Ryder Cup win. I got worried yesterday when McIlroy drove into the heavy rough when 2 up.

And Tiger - lost, lost, lost and lost, keeping up his poor Ryder Cup record. As I hoped!!!

Having lost the first three matches on day 1 then17.5 to 7.5. Absolutely awesome. My favourite player - Tommy Fleetwood.

Meanwhile, I'll answer your question when you get round to answering mine. Why have you continued to hold when you keep saying the share price is going nowhere and MRO overpaid for GKN?

Essential

With no news only two things can affect the price in my opinion

1. As you say the Ergotron delay and no big sale in the short term, hence sentiment

2. Investors are, in the short term, moving money into other companies where they can see more immediate gains.

To me it looks the Ergotron sale delay that has impacted sentiment.
Would agree that the share price probably got ahead of itself.
