Melrose is, and always has, been a company where the share price depends on deals, and currently we are in the pre deal stage re Ergotron and GKN Metallurgy. It is also a company that doesn’t publish much information, hence the flat trajectory.

Actually Burford is similar, but is a much better board since posters stick to the company.

Here due to the inactivity there is a certain amount of banter. If I knew the email addresses of people I respect I would converse directly.

After today's brexit negotiations, I think we are all now much clearer on the realistic options available for our future in Europe. Some have always argued that these were the only options that were ever available. There are 2 of them. We are either in the EU or out of it, we stay or we leave.

Since the June 2016 result, and Mrs May's election, Mrs May has reluctantly, and at a snail's pace, explored options for being part in, part out, killing time in the hope that the predictions of economic catastrophe made by Osborne, Carney, Hammond etc. would begin to show and the voting public would have a change of heart.

Now that the Mrs May strategy has failed, we are back where we were on June 23rd 2016 with those same 2 clear options that appeared on the ballot paper. Stay or leave. Everything else in between has come and gone, and it took 2 years. But since we know what the result of the June 2016 ballot was, we now need somebody in charge to carry it through.

Meanwhile, your posts today are literally a catalogue of misplaced assumptions and poorly thought through logic. Why would you assume a new poster is a man? Why would you then refer to that person as 'he' just after you've been told otherwise? Why would you then refer to 'it'?? I think the sheep poo situation you are facing down there must be atrophying your brain...

Can’t mean me since I’ve NEVER lived nor worked IN a town, let alone a city.

Keyno, “beware strangers bearing gifts.”

Still no sign of The Definitive Small Company Investing Guide.

Minerve & Keyno,

Yes, I'm pleased to see a lady contributing to the board. I must have assumed it was a man although I'm not sure why.

I hope it doesn't lead to more bragging and boasting from the known chief culprits, these city folks.

Yes, the sheep used to keep me warm in bed at night when I studied in The Valleys. LOL

Minerve,

I will accept your judgement of Keyno.
He needn't take any notice of my advice to clear off.

brexit seems to have a low opinion of 'sheep do-dos', as he refers to them. Locally here, they have long been used as a winter fuel and as a flavouring for soups and stews.

Keyno,

Take good note of brexitplus. He is the self-appointed site administrator, local sage (the Cotswolds) and well established know-all.

Now clear off.

I agree wholeheartedly. Hope you will be a regular poster.

Hiking in all those sheep do-dos. Nasty.

Keyno,

Please don't apply your "several interpretations" to my writing. Just read the actual words. This sort of interpretation can take you anywhere, to any conclusion.
One of my closest hiking friends is a vicar and, although I don't have a daughter, my wife is someone's daughter. So I obviously find neither objectionable.
Your particular interpretation in this case was nonsense.
A good scientific training would do you good.

Now clear off.

I’m thinking of buying a few Derriston now that it is back in the market. Martin Sorrell has always known what he is doing.

Anyone else looking at them?

Mrs Brexitplus is a vicar’s daughter!!! Bright man. First degree Cambridge University, second degree Oxford University. Daughters take after him. All good at hard sums!!!

I read your post quite carefully, Meanie. It was open to several interpretations as you chose to use the indefinite article and not the definite one when describing Mrs May. Clearly you don't like her, which is hardly my concern.

As you know, it's a complete waste of time telling me to clear off but I daresay you feel better for getting that one off your chest ...............

MW, Your words definitely implied something more than you're now admitting. I think you need a proper break. Do you fancy Las Vegas with me and 17 other city folk in two weeks time? It would give you a break from stepping in all that sheep poo every ten minutes. I could teach you some maths on the flight too - adding, taking away and that sort of thing?

Neither, Keyno. Please read the words of the post. In the tory leader ballot, one candidate was a vicar’s daughter, which is how i referred to Mrs May. No more in it than that, although of course, I clearly don’t like her.

If you are going to comment on others’ posts, you must read the words and not assume implications.

Now clear off.

"all conservative MPs who voted for a vicar's daughter as their leader."

Is it the "vicar" bit or the "daughter" bit you find objectionable, Meanwhile?

Good grief, lighten up a bit Meanwhile, I think all that mountain air and sheep poo is getting you a bit stressed out. When was the last time you had a proper night out, I mean a really big one, where you looked into your wallet the next morning and thought where did it all go??

It seems clearer day by day that Mrs May and her team are making a huge mess of our brexit process. Even staunch remainers, who stand to gain from seeing the whole process fall apart, are calling it a shambles and are arguing against a huge further giveaway of control of ourselves.
If the referendum of 2016 had asked the question "Do you wish to strengthen our ties to the EU, with increased EU control, and bail out their finances with a huge payment (yes) or remain as we are currently (no)", the yes voters would be quite happy with the progress made by Mrs May so far, just requiring a few more concessions from us.

Who is to blame... Mrs May must take a lot of it, lapdogs like Gove & Carney a bit more and all conservative MPs who voted for a vicar's daughter as their leader.
