Could the middle of July see the end of May?

Now Boris has gone, there will surely be a vote of no confidence. JR-M will become the new party leader and PM, General Election to follow shortly afterwards and then perhaps we will have some direction and answers.

Ryelodge, sorry, I mean Meanwhile, are you still able to put me up in your Colorado outbuilding in September? We could go horse riding together and I could show you how to do averages?

Losos - "Keep posting the verses, I've no idea what they have to do with finance, but if they amuse you that's fine by me :-)".

Yes, I may continue with the verses but I do agree with you that Colorado beetle, spuds and the Hickstead Horse Trials, and also Bertie, are far more relevant to finance.

Hi Losos, lots of horses locally and the Berkeley Hunt meets near our house. Wonderful spectacle.

New potatoes are doing well was are courgettes, French beans (must rename them - any suggestions?), tomatoes, salad, spinach and Swiss chard. I normally grow fennel but glad not this year as it bolts. Also masses of herbs.

B+ "English spuds, grown by me"

Oh very well done Mrs. Losos used to grow them but has cut down on the 'home grown' veg. this year.

BTW did you know that one very big bonus to BREXIT is that we will not risk the devastating effect of having Colorado beetle devour all our spuds. They are common in many parts of Europe but not in UK so far as I know.

MEANWHILE - "Any good share tips in ‘Horse and Hound’ this week, Losos?"

haha Most readers (myself included) still follow the "Sell in May and go away, don't come back 'till St. Ledger day" philosophy, so current edition woefully short of share tips.

But, my neighbour is entering her stallion (Bertie) in the Hickstead trials, they won at an even in Lincolnshire two weeks ago so you could put a few bob on them if you can find a bookie to take your bet, generally people at these events don't mix with the rougher types e.g. bookmakers, so they are hard to find on the day haha.

Keep posting the verses, I've no idea what they have to do with finance, but if they amuse you that's fine by me :-)

English spuds, grown by me, only. Haven’t drunk Guinness for years.

As for wine and fizz, Colonial wine is fine for me and English fizz wins lots of blind tastings. And our cheeses are wonderful. Make my own pancetta and am looking at making chorizo and saucisson with my local butcher.

Am trying to be English sufficient, because English is best.

And the Irish? Life without spuds and Guinness would be intolerable...ha ha.

Agreed Yertiz. Now we have DD, JRM and the England football team fighting for us.

I’m imposing quotas on the EU. Nothing French, especially wine or cheese, and absolutely nothing German. I will support countries being shafted by the EU, namely Italy and Greece. Stopped Spain when it brutally stopped Catalonia.

DD - A man of principles, this will propel Rees-Mogg to the front line, maybe even leading the Conservatives. He talks a deal of sense and is what this country needs to push through Brexit in its right and proper form.

I've never found Questor to be anything better than 50% accurate - in other words, hit and miss - that's just so Meanwhile, who seems to have resurrected himself back onto this board, doesn't get confused with the figures! Sure the column has had some successes but like so many tipsters, they forget the failures. Midas is another I like to avoid - and lets not even think about Investors Chronicle!!

There is a sound reason Halma is at 29 times earnings - dig a little deeper and you'll find a company that's at the forefront of manufacturing state of the art safety equipment, medical devices, environmental and analytical systems. They are always looking for the next earnings enhancing acquisition and the 4 divisions have long been profitable. I like them, maybe they are a hold, for me long term they have been a 4x bagger and still pay a fair divident on top.

Still waiting for Stirling to start making a move?

Interesting piece in the Telegraph re Halma entitled

“Questor share tip: Halma is just a hold at a multiple of 29 times earnings”

I’ve received the Annual Report - interesting reading and a possibility, but not at present.

MW, it's a fair question. But I've been at a loss to explain most of your behaviour since the GKN takeover. Maybe it's attention seeking since Minerve departed the board? But I'm sure Ryelodge will post a message soon so that we can be sure he's not you!

And the dreams that you dream of, once in a lullaby.

And the dream that you dare to
Why, oh why can't I?

Hi Yertiz

Yes, Syncona doing well.I’m up over 50% in 11 months. I wish I’d bought earlier.

Will buy Plus500 on weakness. Still looking at Halma but it seems on the way down and JPMC has a target price of 1100p so hanging fire at present.

May top up Melrose on further weakness.

So glad I got out of Playtech at 776p. 540p today and a drop of nearly 50% since November.

I'm pretty much with as much Melrose as I am comfortable with, just sitting and waiting for September's news or the sale of Ergotron and/or Powder Metallurgy - whichever comes first.

The sensible option would have been to sell half at 246p and buy back in now, but I've never been known to be that sensible (or lucky!).

I may well double my Plus 500 holding before long.....already at 40% of MRO holding and the only way seems to be up for them. Any drop to £17 and I'll be straight in there!

Syncona are doing very well - again, missed the first boat, but any drop to 240p and I will add. GLA.
