M&g Takeover Rumours (MNG)

Helen, what don't you understand, why they've plagued this board or how buyback xd is supposed to work? I understand neither! I must have had loads of cash returned to shareholders from chunks of businesses being sold off. I'm not sure I've ever profited from it, with the price dropping by the special divi amount in all cases. The price of the business and the cash generated is always priced in (as you'd expect). I wish I could find a magic money tree around divis/special divis/sell off of chunks of a business, but I cant. I'm really beginning to think there is no magic money tree! The other point about corporate action around banks (Virgin, tesco, leeds pibs etc etc) seems like we're at a point where takeovers are likely, and banking shares, and those related, seem a good bet for takeover (say 10% as opposed to 1%).

Nerja beautifully sums up the obvious, like day will follow night etc. He makes a valid point, that a takeover bid could happen at 0700, just like an atomic bomb may detonate over Ukraine, both are possible! I’ve explained my methodology, so won’t repeat, but it is not a trading method that goes over the dividend. This particular share drops nicely after XD, check out what happened on the last divi. Not a guarantee of anything for tomorrow, but I’m back in tomorrow am, a cheeky limit buy being placed tonight, then once I’m at work I’ll look for a manual trade. GLA, it’s only gambling if you are clueless!

I like to see a takeover offer come in at 450 Was they offer at some stage ?

220 sounds about right to me but with the potential of a takeover I think there could be more to come in 2024. Happy to keep holding for the superb divi and maybe a takeover boost one day. Good luck all ðŸ‘￾ðŸ￾»
