bbalanjones #464: "Ha! Obviously you may have a short memory or perhaps not old enough to realise that the FIRST vote re EU Membership was in 1975."

Wrong: the vote in 1975 was about joining the common market or EEC, which was about trade. In the 40 years + it morphed into a political union, the EU, which is now a completely different animal to the EEC. The 2016 referendum asked the people to vote on the EU not the EEC.

It was demonstrated by an HONEST scientist more than 2,000 years ago that the earth is not flat. To compare AGW scepticism and flat earthism is ridiculous and frankly childish.

The Flat Earth Society is well and truly alive on this thread. Morons and idiots are a plenty. Grahamite2 is certainly one of them. So is fatnacker.

No wonder they have got absolutely nowhere in their sad little lives. And I know they haven't, regardless of what they say. It is obvious. ;)

bbalanjones, do you even know about Climategate? That the world's leading climate scientists conspired to manipulate, falsify and fabricate data to suit their purposes, as revealed by their own e-mails? How they conspired to discredit and deplatform any scientists taking an opposing view, and indeed destroy their livelihoods and ruin their lives?

Minerve, yes, all of the above.

Concern for the environment and subscribing to the global warming fraud are not one and the same thing.

The global warming campaign is a political operation to advance two causes dear to the heart of the leftist: 1. Harming the United States in particular and the West in general to the benefit of the third world. 2. Increasing government meddling in our lives yet further.

'Purple Momentum' Tory activists planning deselection ambushes before Brexit day

By Christopher Hope, Chief Political Correspondent
15 February 2019 • 9:32pm

Remainer Tory MPs are facing an ambush by pro-Brexit activists at annual local association meetings which have to be held before the end of next month.

At least two Conservative MPs – Dominic Grieve and Heidi Allen - are facing having no-confidence at local party annual meetings over the next six weeks.

The news emerged after another Remain-supporting Tory, Anna Soubry, warned of Eurosceptic “purple momentum” activists taking over MPs’ associations.

Under current Tory party rules, MPs’ local associations must hold their annual meetings before the end of March each year. The deadline coincides with the expected date of Britain's exit from the European Union - March 29.

stonedyou: Ah! Days of Empire and send in a Gunboat. The natives are getting restless again.

I agree that multiculturism has failed; but immigration ? We have a long history ( best part of 2k years) of being either invaded or otherwise populated by "strangers". (It's in the DNA man!)

You`ve got a NASTY habit of turning other peoples arguments.....or worries....

into a cul-de-sac that wasn`t stated by the poster.....You deliberately....

engineer your own argument with your own facts.....which everybody knows.....

gets nowhere!!

The Empire wasn`t built on multi culturalism or immigration.....

Polkka:

What "peoples vote" are you talking about? I'm probably missing something, because we had a peoples vote. You can't be suggesting that we have another one, as that would be undemocratic, so I guess you mean something else - or are you from Nigeria?

Ha! Obviously you may have a short memory or perhaps not old enough to realise that the FIRST vote re EU Membership was in 1975. The SECOND vote was in 2016. (do you get it now?) This has resulted in a political impasse which may well have to be resolved (or not as the case may be) by ANOTHER peoples vote (or more until surrender!).

We elect and pay politicians to run our country - what a mess they have all made.

Can you give us any clue to why we should listen to you? Experience, education? Are you an engineer, member of the scientific community perhaps? Do you read scientific journals? Perhaps you are a member of a gentleman's club where members are scientists, business executives and engineers. Have you studied a degree? What intellectual sources of information do you seek?

If you could let us know I might be more open-minded to the fact that our concern for the environment isn't necessary.

Please, indulge us so we know the calibre of the person we are dealing with here. ;)

The "HATED EU" will reward the likes of soulsby BUT her voting constituents

'Foreigners' run our local amenities, especially primary healthcare and hospitals. As well as create demand they help meet the need of supply.

Also, this country is where it is because we have exploited foreign cultures to build the empire. We are already a multi-cultural society because of that. Your standard of living is partly down to the endeavours of foriegn cultures. You can't have it both ways.

You shouldn't be so ignorant of our history.
