There was a programme on TV, a week or two ago, talking about the Labour 'winter of discontent' saying that the national debt was £800 MILLION.

That was in the early days of the eu.

Now the national debt is nearly £2 TRILLION thanks to our membership of the eu.

Being in the eu is bankrupting this country and germany is laughing all the way to the bank.

"The idea is to make lesser nations think twice before trying any funny stuff. "

When we say lesser nations who might that be?

Airbus may have ceased A380 production, but the smaller A320 is a spectacular success.
Incredible numbers sold.

The aircraft carriers are a visible and indeed ostentatious display of power and wealth. The idea is to make lesser nations think twice before trying any funny stuff. One of only two good things Gordon Brown ever did.

If we didn't pay the EU £39 billion then it could go to local services.

max - agree with you; the 380 was a 'vanity' project. Wrong time as the 747 production was closed down as the market changed.
The huge aircraft carrier is another one; how these get approved is another question.

Will someone please explain to me why we can deal perfectly well with the majority of countries throughout the world without any trade deals that require us to pay £billions a year, but we will not be able to trade just as easily with the eu under a NO DEAL Brexit.

Actually, May's so called deal is NO DEAL because the future trading arrangements between the UK and the eu will not be negotiated until we have left the eu. That is per the eu's own red lines from day 1.

Mays 'deal' is just a huge bribe to try to get the eu to negotiate reasonably after we leave. Everyone with a brain knows the eu will use every dirty trick in the book to give us the worst deal possible for the UK.

The eu are NOT our friends.

They went the wrong way with the superjumbo.

The market changed/never existed when this was on the drawing board.
