Careful - "yes they are so called brokers"

No, mate, brokers arrange cargoes and match them to ships.

The first ferry operator from Ramsgate had no shipping experience to speak of, nor did they have any ships, but they made it work - and TDC forked out a load of money to support them in terms of building a breakwater around "Sally Harbour".

Not saying that Grayling is any good, I think that he's been too laid-back - at least, that's the impression I get.

There are too many vested interests in the yachting community in Ramsgate - and other small ports. Yet another co-incidence that all of a sudden Thanet District Council found that they wouldn't have the money to support a ferry service there - conveniently ignoring the income such a service would bring.

bb - an old article. Known for years by the gnomes. The only tangible real gain by the UK cutting ties with everybody for a very small group of uber-wealthy and their managers. (eg. We shall see whether untraceable bearer instruments are re-introduced).

Britain is the most corrupt place in the world says mafia expert. "Forget Afghanistan, maybe Greece, Nigeria, the South of Italy and I will tell you it’s the UK.“It’s not the bureaucracy, it’s not the police, it’s not the politics but what is corrupt is the financial capital. 90 per cent of the owners of capital in London have their headquarters offshore.

“Jersey and the Cayman’s are the access gates to criminal capital in Europe and the UK is the country that allows it.

Better together had an opportunity to honour the vow with more devolution.

They failed , so Something better is more suitable now.

gnr: The researcher referred to in the "Scotsman.com" piece is noted as Professor Lynn, of the University of Ulster. The articles author (in 2006) blithely then refers to him as a "Lecturer" - a bit of a comedown in terms.

Thanks for the post. Interesting.

We are a very strange bunch here in Cheshire.

I used to believe in Darwinism but many years on this thread now makes me question it!

Amused

From Pete Nicoll
Give Chris Grayling a break. 😆
How could he have known giving a ferry contract to a firm with no history, no money, no ships, no employees, no ports, no sailing schedule, one telephone line and terms & conditions copied from a pizza takeaway would turn out to be the wrong decision?
😆
