LBC was speculating that May could ditch the DUP, [in the hope of winning over Con/ Lab MPs with a permanent customs union for NI, I think]. I can't see her doing that, as that might precipitate another vote of "no confidence" by Corbyn. In such hypothetical circumstances the DUP might abstain, instead of shoring up May.

Don't let charlatans buy you with stories of philanthropy. Try and be a better person, think outside of the herd, and read more into these things. If you couldn't be bothered, at least don't make comments about applauding these individuals until you can fully analyse his contribution and the hedge-funds' contributions to society more

Minerve, can you tell us when you switch into another personna, the medica here can't keep up..LOL

Try and be a better person....think outside of the herd...you can fully analyse his contribution.

I like the above bits, did you get them from your 'Self-help for Dummies' schools edition.

As someone mentioned there will be a significant tax shift somewhere. That will not be his cost on the bottom line, for sure. He will have £900M plus left.

Personally, I think universities like Cambridge should have the independence and strength of mind to turn down these contributions from individuals like this.

Patient

Do you think 'billionaire' and 'philanthropist' can sit comfortably alongside each other to describe the same person? I don't.

If he truly cared about the welfare of others he wouldn't allow himself to get into a position of billionaire in the first place!

Hypocrisy of the utmost and the ignorant fools buy it!

Here is a question: Would you applaud me if I mugged you in the street and then returned to you your leather wallet albeit empty?

What makes you think this situation is any different? Have you looked into what benefit hedge-funds have on society? Ever studied them in any great detail? Have you ever cared to find out where they are domiciled and what tax contributions they make?

Before you start applauding anyone, I advise you to get out of your life of complete ignorance and start finding out!

Don't let charlatans buy you with stories of philanthropy. Try and be a better person, think outside of the herd, and read more into these things. If you couldn't be bothered, at least don't make comments about applauding these individuals until you can fully analyse his contribution and the hedge-funds' contributions to society more properly.

Thanks! ;)

PC - is that donation tax deductable? :)

Hope its for bursaries for Camb candidates from poorer backgrounds. If not, it is not especially philanthropic.

To be applauded"David Harding, the billionaire founder of hedge fund firm Winton Group, donated 100 million pounds ($130 million) to the University of Cambridge, the biggest single private gift to a U.K. college from a British philanthropist"

Goes to show the EUSSR is not a compassionate consideration. The EUSSR is not Civilisation.

EUSSR is just Animal Farm in our time.

You can't trust the bureaucrats of Brussels.....Mr Grayling said TMs cabinet has not discussed delaying A50 despite only 52 days remaining before Britain officially leaves the EU ."I've been in every cabinet meeting and there's been no conversation about delaying post - march 29""We are not delaying Art 50"

In the good old days Minerve would be in Bedlam and we could poke him with sticks.

Well, we still can, figuratively.

'The UK government is keen to reassure EU citizens and their family members living in the UK that they are welcome to stay even in a 'no deal' scenario. The message is clear: you are our friends, our neighbours, our colleagues, and we want you to stay.EU citizens and their family members who are resident in the UK by March 29 will be able to stay and carry on with their lives in the same way they are now. They will be able to work, study, and access benefits and services in the UK on the same basis after we exit the EU as they do now.
