Lloyds Banking Group to axe 780 jobs at its branches in the UK

Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) is to axe 780 full time staff at its branches according to the national union Unite.

According the trade union Lloyds informed its workforce across the UK that the equivalent of 780 full time staff will lose their jobs in the latest round of job losses at the bank.

Scott Doyle, Unite LBG committee chair, said: "The news that a substantial number of employees from the bank branch network have been told that they are being made redundant from LBG between June and October 2020 is deeply alarming

“The decision by Lloyds Banking Group to cut the equivalent of 780 staff from its branches is yet more evidence of the bank’s profits over people culture," said Mr Doyle.

Lloyds Banking Group is to axe 780 full-time jobs in its branches, according to trade union Unite.
The High Street banking giant, which incorporates Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, has been cutting back on jobs and branches in recent years, with 56 branch closures announced at the end of last month.
The news followed rival bank HSBC revealing yesterday that it will shut another 27 branches.

careful and gbh2 :(your posts 586 and 587) Absolutely agree. Dodged two bullets in the last four months cancelled a P&O cruise in November (following a much reported mini-riot on The Britannia) and a 'scheduled' trip 'down -under'which has really suffered from extreme weather. Just goes to show .

m4rtinu: Your 589 post made me smile. Doubtless it's being so cheerful that's keeping you going as a Lloy holder ?!!

"Amazed that the ftse100 index is back to where it was late 1999."

That tells you all you need to know about passive trackers.

chavitravi2: Your post 562 ..indeed I did. Although the EU negotiations were never going to be 'easy' ..it's my view (and that of others)that in many respects it's simpler for the UK as opposed to 27 many of whom have different agendas/needs. as for Lloy ..still have my holding and looking to double up at 50p.

mitchy:Have held off. Maintained plenty of 'headroom' for eventual 'bottom fishing'!

I wonder how long it will take before the media get bored of reporting on this strain of flu? Have they ever reported on how many cases of the normal flues that kill 8000 every year in UK. Has anyone ever decided not to go to Tenerife on holiday in the past because they might catch flu which is with us every year? If your neighbour has had flue in recent years did you move out for 14 days? It's getting mad!

Old news, but Barnier struggling to get on his feet again after being shoved backwards down the stairs by Boris!

"The EU wants to prevent the UK undercutting its firms and businesses. It offers a "highly ambitious" trade deal in exchange for sticking to the rules. British PM Boris Johnson's response: no way".

Amazed that the ftse100 index is back to where it was late 1999.

if we had to make a big bet on New Years eve 1999 where the index would be today, what would we have estimated?

Does not include dividends, but I think we would have estimated in index north of 15,000.(Dow was about 11500, now 27000)
We did not know of the 2 huge crashes to come of 2003 and 2009, and who would have guessed that inflation and interest rates would stay so low.

we can't get used to the fact that 4% per annum is an impressive return these days. What happens over the next 20 years I wonder.

You are a liar Jacko.

When someone has to lie you know they have lost the argument.

Of course Jacko has never made a loss on anything, ever, over his whole life. A record better than Buffett.

LOL

Careful, on your point about 50 million dying each year - does that not imply average life expectancy of 150 years, given the Earth’s population of around 7.5 billion? At worst 120 years given a population of 6 billion a few decades ago.

I suppose I hope you are correct but, as ever, you are likely to be wrong. But you always amuse.

I thought you wanted me to have Baseball Bat soup.

It was you who said you had lost 42% on PFG, I don't tell lies, no point, you are a nonentity, a legend in your own mind, the self styled, self made man who ran out of materials!!!

I don't see how a flight in space will feel much different from being in an airliner at 35,000 feet.

Negligible gravity to be sure but it must be about bragging rights, nothing more.

You keep on about my PFG losses. Why the obsession? LOL

God knows where you get the 42% loss figure from?

Another lie from the thread's resident lying toad.

Here, calm down and have some bat soup, fresh from Wuhan 🦇.
