Johnson backs tech tax despite Trump's threats
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he would press ahead with a digital sales tax even after the US threatened to punish France for a similar move.

In a proposal first outlined last year, large online companies face a tax of 2% of UK sales from April 2020.


2% is reasonable and won't kill the golden goose! McDonnell's spiteful taxes just takes the glitz out of success! McDonnell/Corbyn the most uninspiring duo British enterprise has ever had to endure!

Poikka: reading your posts re EU I'm sure you would enjoy Robert Menasse's "The Capital", a satire about the EU, written by an Austrian. Reminded me of the brilliant BBC satire of itself, "W1A".

Exclusive: Labour promise football fans a say over their club's choice of manager

The Labour Party have promised football fans a say over the identity of their club’s manager as part of a proposal that would allow supporters' trusts to appoint and remove at least two club directors when there is a change in ownership.

Responding to Telegraph Sport’s special report on Tuesday into the priorities of leading sports governing bodies, Labour’s shadow sports minister, Rosena Allin-Khan, outlined a series of policies which are designed to empower supporters.

“Labour will put fans at the heart of football by giving them a far greater say over the way their clubs are run,” she said. “We will provide them a say over who their manager is, allow safe standing, and make sure all stadiums are fully ­accessible.”

This enhanced fan ­influence, which is likely to be ­resisted by most clubs and leagues, relates to legislation should Labour win next week’s general election that would allow accredited football supporters’ trusts to purchase shares and change at least two directors if the club changes owner.​

Yes, I class myself as a Londoner. It has become a region in its own right; a bit like Geneva. It gives some charm in itself but long gone are the days of the old (untouched and dangerous) visits to the Prospect for a drink. We had to pay kids not to slash the tyres. (Jacko will remember).
