21/10/2019 18:36 | I have a rabid SNP relative, she protests against leaving the EU on a 52% to 48% referendum result. Not fair, lies, need a bigger majority and any other thing that is said . I wonder If Scotland get another ref, and its 52 to 48 for independence. Which side will she be on , do you think she will protest against getting independence , because the result is not clear enough and that the Scottish goverment talk a lot of rubbish about the economy up there, and she approves of the increases in the higher rate of tax when they need bit more cash. I wonder... | ![]() hernando2
21/10/2019 18:34 | Hi grahamite2, There is a certain irony in your last post. You talk of desire to be free and independent in Croatia and Serbia. Just like them you say we desire to be free and independent. Croatia is a free an independent member of the EU and Serbia has applied to join the EU and expected to be admitted in 2025. The UK is currently a free and independent state within the EU. Lets hope it stays that way. Goldpig | ![]() goldpiguk
21/10/2019 18:33 | Bercow is playing a blinder. He is giving parliament its democracy and stopping government from misbehaviour. The guy deserves a knighthood. Brexiters will be throwing their toys and threatening violence as usual. Glad I was out all day. | ![]() minerve 2

21/10/2019 18:19 | Just think that if we had been granted or won independence there would be no SNP to vote against what was needed to let boris probably have his way. To Remove that thorn from his side there is an easy way out, give England independence, many want it.. | ![]() bargainbob
21/10/2019 18:14 | Goldpig Ask the people of Serbia and Croatia. Ask the shades of the people of Argentina and Venezuela. I could go on. Just like them, we desire to be free and independent, and like them, we are not daunted by the difficulties that will arise. | ![]() grahamite2

21/10/2019 17:58 | Hi grahamite2, We have spent over three and a half years trying to exit a "club" we have been a member of for under 50 years. Think of the years of uncertainty that would be involved if Scotland exits from the UK after over three hundred years. Parliament would spend years and years sorting out Constitutional, financial, commercial, travel, customs, currency, company, health, legal, defence, just about everything. It would consume Parliament for years. Think of the last three and a half years multiplied by more than six! Goldpig | ![]() goldpiguk
21/10/2019 17:48 | Indeed this is a dysfunctional, worn out sick parliament. It is the ROTTEN PARLIAMENT. There is a need for a General Election. But the Anti-democratic Labour and SNP refuse to allow the People to vote in a new parliament. Democracy is being strangled by Labour and SNP. Parliament makes the laws, not the laws making parliament. Democracy is People Rule.OK | ![]() xxxxxy

21/10/2019 17:38 | Our future if we leave the EU will most likely be "Little Britain", as Scotland departs and Northern Ireland moves away. What of it? Losing those two would be like losing Wolverhampton and Stoke Poges. England would still be a mighty economy and nation. | ![]() grahamite2
21/10/2019 17:33 | For once I'd say Bercow has done right. What's the point of an indicative vote if the real thing is to be debated tomorrow? | ![]() grahamite2
21/10/2019 17:28 | Hi xxxxxy, You are behind the times. A no deal Brexit is simply not going to happen in this Parliament. A very high stakes game of poker is being played out in the House of Commons. It looked as though the Government did have the numbers to get the BJ deal approved in principle today. The Speakers ruling, which the Government knew would be to reject its planned vote today, means the Governments Bill can now be amended at Second Reading tomorrow. What is happening is a tragedy for this country; Over three years of wasted time, causing division in the four nations making up the UK, huge family splits, frozen business decisions, and years of uncertainty. The sooner this all stops the better, but sadly that looks highly unlikely. Divisions only look likely to be exacerbated over coming days. Our future if we leave the EU will most likely be "Little Britain", as Scotland departs and Northern Ireland moves away. Brexit must be stopped using every democratic and legal means at our disposal. 21/10/2019 16:43 | Nowt to worry about..Ignore the dramatic noise..this is a stitch up between Junker and Boris and nothing..repeat nothing will get in the way. So Bercows, letters,Olli The EU in all of its pomp and might are now 150% on the side of Boris. So who do you think will win ? And the longer it drags on the larger Boris' majority. [But we still will have stitched up like a kipper] But us investors will benefit mightily. | ![]() mr.elbee
21/10/2019 16:39 | I’m sure the wider British public in general will believe Bercow’s rejection is yet another attempt by Parliament to thwart Boris’s deal and believe the two issues are separate questions. The reality is that both relate to the ‘meaningful vote’ on his deal. Letwin’s amendment was debated in consequence. Unfortunately time is against us. No doubt the government will now frame the ‘meaningful vote’ when the legislation bill is debated in tomorrow’s Parliamentary sitting | ![]() mazarin
