05/12/2018 20:04 | Democracy is all about changing our minds. All we can be sure of is that we love Tony Blair. He won three elections, remained unbeaten, and was so admired he served his country for more than 10 years. No need for any more elections, the public voted him in 3 times, he is much loved. Why should we ever need to have another vote? Blair should still be PM, we did not respect the peoples choice. | ![]() careful
05/12/2018 19:58 | Tuesdays vote and its aftermath is turning into a game of chess. Every MP will be thinking several moves ahead, no doubt with their own careers the most important factor. what a shower these MP's are. very few have come out of this farce with their reputations in tact. Sick of hearing about the wishes of the 17.4 million. They talk as though the voters knew what they were doing. They deny these 17.4m the democratic chance to change their mind. a pity Screaming lord Such is not still around. He could do well. | ![]() careful
05/12/2018 19:39 | I didn't detect any softening either, perhaps wishful thinking on your part careful. While all this is going on though the problems within the EU aren't going to go away. They will become more acute and in time more and more remain voters will start to question whether being within the EU really is such a good thing. I do wonder sometimes just what it would take for some to realise that the EU simply is not sustainable. | ![]() cheshire pete
05/12/2018 19:21 | Careful - "Saw Boris interviewed just now. I detected a softening of his attitude to remain." Not so, careful, he was pushed by Kuensberg (as usual) to say things that he did not believe, and refused to do so, and he repeated that we should withhold "at least half" of the £39bn while real negotiations take place. Doesn't sound like a softening to me. What he did say was that the choice between this 'deal' and Remain was a pretty fine line. That is undeniable, but read it as you will. There are none so blind... | ![]() poikka
05/12/2018 19:08 | Stonedyou, Ref your post 630 “Britain will leave the European Union without a deal in March if lawmakers vote against Prime Minister Theresa May's deal" I don't believe that will happen, ie, we will leave on no deal. That is because there isn't a majority in Parliament supporting 'No Deal'. I can see the following materialising: . TM's Brexit deal is voted down . Opposition call for a no confidence vote . Conservative MP's along with Labour, Libdem, SNP, DUP, Greens Plaid Cymru all vote for a GE. . Labour get in and we remain in the EU and have five years of Left Wing policies that will decimate business, pensions and lifelong savings in a programme of a Distribution of wealth. ie taking off you and everyone on this bb because "Shareholders" in any Company is a Dirty word that must be obliterated according to the doctrines supported by Corbyn and MacDonald. Labour have never intended to come clear on their BREXIT Philosophy, ie, being in a Customs Union and a Single Market is not possible if you want to curb immigration and get back Control of our Laws. Labour have not come clear because their main resolve is force a GE. If Labour win (as is most likely they will fighting a Conservative Party that is completely split and who will vote for that?), Labour would have a Peoples vote and the result will undo that of the last referendum and we will remain fully in the EU. Labour and the Unions will tell all Labour Politicians to fall into line. Unlike Boris who loves the sound of his own voice or Mogg who is living a delusional life if he believes the Millions of the new generation can relate to him. So IMO the result of Boris, Mogg and Raab doing the dirty on TM will leave us permanently in the EU AND leave us with a Labour /SNP coalition for at least five years. Davis isn't interested as he stated two years ago he wants to retire in two years time (he is ready to take his Gold Plated Pension now). Boris and Mogg will be immune to Left Wing policies that will engulf all our lives as they both have vast untouchable wealth funds overseas. IMO we all need to think very carefully about our ideologies and what might ensue. The best strategy for Brexiteers to adopt is to take one step at a time, vote for the best deal possible now and negotiate over the next two years to satisfy all that Brexiteers wish for. AS it stands now Brexiteers are sleepwalking into forcing a GE which the Conservative will not win with all the rhetoric that is ongoing within the Party. So IMO, it's not a matter of 'Vote Fails = No deal Brexit' because Parliament will NOT allow it. I must admit I voted to remain as I didn't believe all the sweets that Boris promised us if we left. Putting the future of our youth first I voted remain. However, I have links with Europe and I know that the Europeans have a determined resolve not to give into the UK. So I can see that we will remain but I don't call that a victory because it was not the remain I wanted and the likes of Boris, Mogg, and Raab have all put their careers before the interests of the People. AIMO Only. | ![]() newbank

05/12/2018 18:56 | Max - they were real bikes; especially the Velocette Thruxton with the signature fishtail exhaust. Very rare today. British bikes that went bust in early 1970's. Still-unbeaten (for single-cylinder, 500 cc machines) 24 hours at over 100 mph (161 km/h) record. | ![]() alphorn

05/12/2018 18:52 | Saw Boris interviewed just now. I detected a softening of his attitude to remain. One of the best speeches he ever made was in support of EU. membership. He has a right to change his mind, but seems driven solely by political ambition. £ rose today now that hard Brexit looks unlikely. Things improving, house builders up today. Contrarian investors could be tempted into this market. Common sense may prevail after all. Don't understand why May cannot take the backstop away, or at least give it a time limit. Odds of no Brexit have risen to 40% according to sources. | ![]() careful

05/12/2018 18:38 | Alpscorn..you are a little snippy today, jackinboxes snide remarks about stress and motorbikes. Bonnies, Goldies, Road Rocket, Vincent Black Shadows, Trophy's, you name it ducky, long before your Ma took the training wheels of your Tri-ang. I have forgotten more than you will ever know about bikes..pillock!! Now be a good little boy and go and do your homework on FX dealing so that you can come on the board and offer something different than the usual whine about Brexit.
