Good point Alphorn: What has happened to the Tory Brexit big hitters? Maybe I've missed news but heard little on stalling of the negotiations from the likes of Francois, Bone, Sir Bernard Jenkin, Sir Bill Cash, Steve Baker, Owen Paterson to name but a few.
Looks like Boris may have gagged them from saying anything as I can't believe that they're happy with the way we're walking into Barnier's bear trap.

The electorate won't accept dealing with COVID as an excuse for fudging Brexit.

max - the two have a link - higher prices mean bigger domestic profits = more taxes. It is the anti dumping comment that I had added. Groups should pay their fair share of taxes - that of course includes UK groups.

PC - I misjudged the collapse in interest rates after the financial crisis. I was running covered forex calls on money market accounts and could have run them out for years. Could inflation and cost of money rise just as fast? I would have to say not.
The future is very cloudy. :(

Alp.

Who mentioned pricing controls? I said taxes.

lef - then why IYO have none of the UK teams made any headway? I am sure that if the negotiations had been contracted out to a US team they would be done and dusted.

Alp., I didn't either. The issuance of fictitious money has been carried out on an epic scale everywhere that matters. TINA & FOMO following on seemingly without any regard for the long term consequences because the various QEs to date have had no, or precious little, effect on inflation. If and, one hopes, when underlying demand picks up at some future date and the cost of money then rises there may well be a whirlwind to shake markets out of their present complacency.

max - then you agree that pricing controls are acceptable - in your example essential. ie. no free pricing arrangements. (Anti dumping regulations)

My position is make the international mega-corps pay their taxes, same as the rest of us. If they want to trade here, pay up, with no excuses.

xxxxxy 21 Aug '20 - 17:28 - 312967

5x, this is like watching an elaborate confected series of concocted excuses to place blame on the other side.

The positions are irreconcilable, why continue the farce?

If Boris were the leader he pretends to be, he would simply say "enough!" There's been literally years for these devious EU types to come up with a deal of mutual respect, but what they really want is to retain control and have the little dog jump through their hoops. All Boris has to do is say "game over Barnier, on yer bike", but alas Boris seems too weak.

It's plain that the EU behaves as if the UK were a vassal State, and indeed the awful T May person behaved exactly like a craven underling, giving Barnier and his slimy crew encouragement to pursue their agenda. There should be no more 'negotiations', when the Brussels uber-meisters come back from their hols, there should be nothing for them to do, except explain to their fishermen why they can't fish in UK waters anymore, on pain of having their boats confiscated.

from 970 above R seems to be critical but if no contacts are identified - then what do the disclosures mean - 500k test positive with little or no effect and no deaths and we go on like a load of Zombies - accepting without understanding for why and for what!

cheshire - these are the n'th Tory A Team. The ones who will clean up with Barnier and then tackle the easy guys like the US. Wise up - just a little.

Remember all those Brexit lunatics who said that a deal was a slice of cake and would take a few weeks - all those years ago.

Allowing talks to continue going nowhere is playing into Barnier's hands. It is EU modus operandi to leave it until just before midnight and try and railroad through a bad deal.
We know this, Barnier knows it and yet we're stumbling haplessly towards it. End it now and pull out of the talks. Show some leadership Boris and tell them to sling their hook.

Just seems that the whole matter is Brian Rix.
Treason - told lie after lie - no deal is better than a bad deal- her deal was to stay and pay -the EU has not altered its stance - you leave and must follow our rules on state aid fisheries etc
This EU circus is just what it is - full of Cocoas - why bother to go through the motions - and the WA is even a bigger headache - so bin the lot NOW.
Back to the clowns who are said to be managing our flu outbreak.
I dont follow the statements that more ppl have tested positive and the increase in the rate as per each 100k residents.
Should 100 ppl have been tested in say June with 10 positive - the rate would have been x (10%). Remember 99900 had not been tested. Should 500have been tested in the same area in July with 80 positives the rate would have been higher (16%)but meaningless because 99500 had not been tested.
What assumptions are made to identify areas for lockdown?

Serious thoughts: if we didn't have so many economic migrants in England, the number of cases of covid would be massively lower and more Brits would be able to get the healthcare that they need; if we didn't have so many migrants in England far fewer Brits would have been killed by bombers, our police would be less stretched and we wouldn't have the housing crisis; if we didn't have so many South Asian migrants in England, fewer young girls would suffer from grooming..and so on.

So what good have the majority of them done for this country?

Renowned EU Scientist: COVID-19 Was Engineered In China Lab, Effective Vaccine "Unlikely"

Given the many mutations of SARS-CoV-2, it is extremely unlikely that a single vaccine that blocks the virus will be found. At the moment 11 different strains have been identified: the A2a genetic line which developed in Europe and the B1 genetic line which took root in North America are more contagious than the 0 strain originating in Wuhan.

"Genetically modified to mutate into more serious strains outside of China, clearly.
Act of War if found to be true"
