lol, I think Churchill thought we'd be running a Democratically established EU rather than Paying into a dictatorship that cost national tax payers a fortune yet answered to no one.

Need to go, Lunchtime and the local Potting Shed will be open, back for more banter later.

Wish you a good day.

Reality..In 2022 all euro-countries become states of the new federal nation or US of G and must join the euro and the EU parliament and court of justice become "supreme". Borders lost, control of planning and tax policies lost and hands over its armed forces too..UK will have no absolute control of its fisheries and never will, in the EU. But hey, lol, the UK won't lose the Falklands, Caymans and Gibraltar. They too will be part of USG.

gbh2: Hence the Churchillian (amongst others) idea of turning a regular "Warring" Europe into some thing politically more stable and AVOID wars. Worked for 70 odd years. A good idea currently being frustrated in this country by that obvious power and self interest (to which you correctly refer).

bj, Wars were fought to create alternative ways forward and my guess is they always will be because politics are entrenched in self interest.

Long story short, I've been working away knocking on ten years and have cash I now want working for me, capital fluctuations are not a concern.

As of today I have a Investment ISA fully loaded and next month I'll be able to double it's content, that aside I'm still looking at other investments.

Main objective - a well funded retirement :-)

Good luck with your approach likeawalrus.

"Have you conveniently forgotten History: WE and most of what is now Europe were a fully integrated part of the ROMAN EMPIRE for 350 odd years"And after 350 years you gain back your freedom..You may be occupied but never integrate.

Quite right about the FE. It is an area where the UK was and still is very well connected - Jardine Matheson and Swire being good examples. To be embraced and taken advantage of.This isn't to say we should abandon Europe. There is no reason why we can't do both.
