Noticed this article re Europe the market and history of attempted Airborne Patho detection developments so far...It would appear not much progress has been made since...but the requirement is there.

It basically documents the 3 year EU funded consortium (Denmark, SME), ThinXXS Microtechnology AG (Germany, SME), and RIVM, Dutch. -which was a cartridge/lab based product...I assume..as there's not much published since, and no news I've seen on an airborne monitoring program anywhere in Europe..YET..

'PathoDetect .(2008-2011) aims at meeting a major market demand for rapid detection and identification of airborne organisms that are pathogenic or otherwise hazardous to human and animal health (“bio-threats”), which is of increasing importance to various commercial and strategic business sectors.'
..........
'These sectors include military and homeland defense, agricultural and veterinary surveillance/diagnostics, and clinical in vitro diagnostics. The commercial importance of these areas is evidenced by the large sums being spent within EU.'

Re the design-
'The most important of these characteristics are accuracy (lack of false positives and negatives), sensitivity, and speed. Less critical, but still highly important, are price, ease of use and portability. Exhaustive surveys of existing and proposed systems for monitoring of these bio-threats has been published'

I’m still in here fannyram. Been here since IPO and as of yesterday I was at breakeven. I’ve been at breakeven on a few occasions but held on because i have strong hope. (Hope more than faith lately)
.2089 is my average and I’m holding. However, the wait is increasingly painful and scary as I’m in heavy. So, shut tfu and go and finger yourself! Hahaha

Yes, strategicinvestor2. But “soon” is taking a very long time. As I said earlier the government and the press should be all over this. Not just the blog that we read on these boards.

If every time the media reported some outlandish claim of an AIM company there would be a lot of nonsense in the news. Some of us may think this is another piece of nonsense, while some of us will see our investments surge. We’ll all know in the coming weeks who was right. Based on all the available evidence I’d say I will be right. But nothing is guaranteed here. Even if it doesn’t work we’ll still be left with an okay company

It’s all speculation until it’s accredited by an independent lab. It has had media coverage based on the speculation of the machine. Full media coverage will happen when there is a confirmation of the machine and FACTS to report.

If this detector is as good as we are lead to believe then why has it not had a mention on the headline BBC and ITV news or even, perhaps, a documentary on how brilliant this detector is. Why have we not even had Boris screaming about it and telling the world that there is light at the end of the tunnel?

looking at several of the posts on here it looks like some have sold in to the recent rise and are now trying to talk KMK down. This is a common ploy which I have seen across many stocks over the last few months. I am relatively new to Kromek so not sure how this will play out but generally speaking the method hasn't worked.

Kromek are in a very strong position as their order book is over 75% of brokers forecasts very early in the year so I have a strong view that they will beat brokers forecasts.

As for the chance of the Covid detection machine working I suspect there is a very high probability of success so the gamble of being out surrounds timing of the results.

Given the potential upside which is multiples of the current share price the trade for a few percent at best looks vulnerable to me.

All of the above ignores the ability to gain orders from other areas.

As I have a fairly modest holding in KMK I am relaxed about current direction if it falls happy to add but suspect it won't be down at these levels for very long at all.

550,000 buy @ 20.92p reported after hours yesterday.

A lot of sizable buys over the past couple of weeks at these prices too, if I remember rightly.

AQC888, You make some good valid points. I do however believe we are due a period of reversal & slow-up in the share price(if you are a chartist especially!) IMHO. But nothing wrong in that, I expect general upwards direction overall IF we have those all important successful trials, orders & sales; but it'll take some time.
It'll be great to see a really successful British world -beating technology company.
I was invested in ITM from the early days 2005 onwards, they had big ups & downs & took years to really get going on their share price rises, helped ofcourse by the upsurge in take-up of hydrogen energy.

You’ve got to do your own research Vicki. Check out the YouTube Kromek videos of the CEO discussing the machine. Also look at Simon Thompson articles and what contributors on here have to say. The GB news channel had a great YouTube video. Type in ‘GB news Kromek’. If the results are positive, results which are going to be accredited by an nhs laboratory - that’s what we’re waiting for - as not many people will take the word of an AIM company. Once that happens expect the news to hit headlines around the world and for Kromeks order book to explode. Kromek have manufacturing partners lined up and recently raised £13 for commercialisation of the machine. Since the company is so small £80m market cap, the potential for sales and profits to grow substantially is what makes this exciting. Also don’t forget the other three deferments of Kromeks business which are performing exceptionally, with 75% of analysts forecasts for the year already obtained despite only being 4 months into the financial year. Very exciting times ahead

Vicki, it’s a 1/800,000 chance of a false positive according to Simon Thompson’s article. Which is better than the gold standard pcr test. It sucks in 800 litres to test every minute and gives results a few times every hour. The US government have invested close to 10million, and the U.K. government have invested close to £2m. The covid aspect of the machine is partly what makes it interesting to DARPA (the U.S government agency). They are mainly interested in its capacity to alert authorities in the case of a biological attack on U.S subways and cities. The detector has an ability to sequence all known pathogens, including unknown pathogens - which would alert the world early to the next pandemic. The machine Kromek are developing, the next generation version which DARPA are funding, would have prevented the current pandemic if it were positioned at boarders. The uses of the machine are huge, from agricultural uses, monitoring crop pathogens, to monitoring the current pandemic, to preventing future pandemics. But what makes this an outstanding investment is that it is only one part of Kromeks business, a business which appears to be having its best year with its class leading medical imaging detectors.

At what range will this detector system work at, everything has a drop off limit but it needs to be 100 percent perfect throughout a large area to be successful, not juat work to some degree. Chances are this is just another pie in the sky binned project in a long line of them.

Could sell, buy back in and make a quick 14% if your lucky Dave. But the chances of missing out on the detector results are just too great a risk from my perspective. We’re just about to get the results any week now that we’ve all been waiting so long for. If you’ve still got your Kromek shares you probably think they’ll be positive results, perhaps positive results with a few government orders attached? Huge upside, small downside is how I see it.

Kromek has had a very erratic share price, with gains often wiped out. A lot of investors, including myself, are concerned this is just another spike. However we are getting so close to the release of this game changing detector now - it’s just too risky to be out when those results come in...

Looking a bit weak; can buy hefty amounts touch under 21p now. It's had a good run.
May dip to 18p, if no news in next couple of weeks. That's my take, for now.

Was very tempted to sell a few, as Kromek are over 10% of my portfolio, and have made some hefty gains. However things are so heavily balanced to the upside I just feel I would kick myself. Can’t see the price falling back too far again, unless the detector machine results are adverse - which looks unlikely given the evidence of DARPA giving Kromek another round of funding last month for the detector and the CEO & Simon Thompson saying the trials are very positive with news in the next few months. The underlying business of the other products is also doing record breaking sales at the moment too. Far too much upside still...
