One thing seems clear, if the DUP wants to ensure(and they are adamant that they do) that the backstop, and nothing like it is enacted by either TM or a future Corbyn Government, i would expect them to be making it very clear to the ERG and other critics of the deal, that if it is voted down, it would only support the Government in a No Confidence motion tabled by Labour if the Conservatives got rid of May as leader.

In which case those currently writing off the "plot against May" will be likely seen as jumping the gun.

Today's PMQ's strongly suggests the relationship between May and the DUP has completely broken down.

It's worth noting that, if Brexit stockpiling is as great as some media reports are suggesting, the UK will likely go into recession when it stops and reverses, regardless of the Brexit outcome. Brexit decisions will probably just make the difference between a modest recession or a severe one - even if there is a second referendum that sees a remain vote.

Government borrowing figures continue to suggest an economy just about in recession. Revenues were weak again and would have been negative except for a good rise in production taxes (Brexit stockpiling?) which are about 45% of revenues. Expenditure acceleration was partly driven by an accelerating rise (4.6%) in social benefits payments which is at odds with a rise in minimum wage and growing economy but in line with rising Claimant Count, rising insolvencies, tightening bank credit, falling car sales, falling house prices and growing corporate profit warnings.



I'd estimate that, but for a bit of support from Brexit stockpiling, the UK would have probably gone into recession around August/September and is now very close to doing so anyway.

start with her obsession with detail to the cost of clarity. Last week I was on BBC Question Time with a Government minister, who demanded to know if I’d read the Withdrawal Agreement. Honestly, the answer is no: and I bet she hadn’t either. The truth is, it’s unreadable. It’s written in such dense, lawyerly language that it might as well be in Mandarin, which is fine because that’s how these things are supposed to be. In a representative democracy, you and I are not expected to read and master international treaties. Ministers set the goals, civil servants do the spade work, the PM sells it. Mrs May does not understand this important division of labour.

Absurd, isn't it. And yet what the Bonkers Brexiteers want for UK PLC is so much worse, that the CBI and boss of Siemens, along with most other business leaders including the car manufacturers and the Farmers Union, seem desperate to accept it.

Truth is, UK electorate has been badly misled by the lies. But bring it back to vote and let the People decide, armed this time with the facts.

You may still be able to persuade the turkeys to vote for Christmas. In which case I'll give up and declare it a day.

I'm not - seeking either to crow, or seek the high moral ground. I don't like seeing peeps losing money, even MT. But arrogance annoys me, especially when it is least justified, and papered over with lies.

It's imperative that Mays deal is consigned to the rubbish bin of history....

If Mays treacherous deal gets voted through, and the transition/implementation period gets extended to 2022, which would coincide with a G.E, then the establishments plans are to put to the electors having had Mays deal dishonestly foistered on the UK, and submitted to EU rules and regulations without ANY input...the establishment puts the option at the next election...'Would you rather return to the EU or would you rather stay out under Mays disastrous deal that was foistered on us in 2019?'.....

Of course most, especially the remoaners would vote to return...but under a lot, lot worse terms and restrictions, with NO vetos, NO rebates...having to join the euro...I could go on...


So if anyone that believes in democracy and self governence, Mays deal HAS TO BE VOTED DOWN, AND THROWN OUT COMPLETELY !!!!

EU Budget rejected.

I have always been deeply disappointed by the UK's media EU reporting which tends to miss important stuff like this from our local rag, the TagesSpiegel today, enjoy:

"Negotiations between the European Parliament and the Member States over the EU budget for the coming year have failed. Both sides were unable to agree on a common position at midnight before the deadline, as the budgetary vote of the European Parliament and diplomats on Monday evening announced. Thus, the European Commission has to submit a new proposal for the billions budget 2019.

EU Budget Commissioner Günther Oettinger announced that he would do so "in a few days" to reach an agreement by the end of the year. If no breakthrough is achieved by then, the current budget would be updated from month to month without the increase planned for 2019.

-- Die Verhandlungen zwischen dem Europaparlament und den Mitgliedstaaten über den EU-Haushalt für das kommende Jahr sind gescheitert. Beide Seiten konnten sich vor Fristablauf um Mitternacht nicht auf eine gemeinsame Position verständigen, wie der Haushaltsschuss des EU-Parlaments und Diplomaten am Montagabend mitteilten. May demonstrates well that after 40+ years of the draining of political power to the EU, how pathetic our politicians have become.

They are now merely bureaucratic executors of EU dictats. It is one of many reasons I personally voted Leave.

The concern much of the 17.4 million who voted to leave the EU has, is that it's not yet certain that the May's, Blair's, Guardian, Independent and all the rest of the quivering, terrified of change spin merchants have been defeated.

May stood at the crossroads of history and has behaved for the last two years like a a frightened rabbit.

She has no character, charisma, empathy or passion. She’s clearly not up to the task and the control freak side of her means that she’s unlikely to step down. She will need to be deposed. At least Maggie, for all her failings, realised when the gig was up.

Whatever one's position on Brexit May has presided over disastrous changes in the way this country has always been governed:

Manifesto commitments now mean nothing and cabinet government appears to have been dispensed with.

The Civil Service has become overtly politicised (“Kit-Kat Tapes”) and dissembling and lying to the electorate has become the norm.

There is not one part of the British State in which the Government is not failing. If the UK Government were a local council it would have been taken over under special measures.

Housing, immigration, crime, prisons, border control, the benefits system, transport, the NHS, the education system are all in a shambolic mess under May's Government.

Worse the Government has no answer to these multiple crises and is content to busy itself with identity politics, shutting down free speech, more tax and spend and betraying Britain to the EU.

How any Tory MP can look at May and not realise the extent of the wave of political hate that will hit them like a tsunami come the next election is beyond me and also our MP if his private comments are a reliable guide. Their stupidity and complacency is astounding.

They seem to have forgotten that in far better political times May managed to lose a 20% poll lead just a month before a General Election such is her unique talent for pi*sing off the electorate.
