It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than open one’s mouth and remove all doubt.

Russia invading Ukraine is not showing its power or strength, rather its showing Russia's insecurity and lack of self-confidence.

Mutual trade between Russia and China in the first two months of 2022 increased by 38.5% year-on-year, according to statistics released on Monday by China’s customs administration.

Trade turnover in January-February reached $26.43 billion.

Russia’s positive balance in January-February reached $1.19 billion, up 26.3% annually.

Following last year’s positive results, Chinese President Xi Jinping forecast that trade turnover between Russia and China may soon reach $250 billion. Experts say this threshold could be reached in 2026. Among the main areas that will contribute to the growth of trade between the two countries, analysts list Russian oil and gas exports, non-ferrous metals, and agricultural goods. Last month, China lifted all restrictions on Russian wheat imports, and is now free to buy wheat from any Russian region.

Last week China signed a deal with Russia to increase their imports of gas several fold.

There are still an awful lot of flights in and out of Moscow as most of Asia and the Middle East are still open to Russian airlines. Also the Istanbul, Moscow/St Petersburg air bridge is fully operating with flights between the two increasing at least 5 fold and instead of operating smaller A320's etc are now operating with the likes of the Boeing 777 and A330 aircraft.

The old thread was poorly featured in terms of graphs.

The old title is painful to read.

Hopefully a peace accord will revive this excellent investment trust’s fortunes.

It's a nonsense figure. China will buy the oil and gas.

QP - I have sold my entire holding of JRS twice in the past 20 years, both times luckily near the top while enjoying good dividends.

Now JRS is below 100p, I'm buying back in.

Moneyweek - “it is hard to conceive a complete collapse of Russia’s economy as long as it can keep selling its oil at almost $100 a barrel”, says Jon Sindreu in The Wall Street Journal. That will bring a $20bn current account surplus each month. And the plunging rouble will depress domestic consumption, which could drive that surplus even higher, towards $30bn a month, says Sofya Donets of Renaissance Capital.

For Info - The London Stock Exchange said on Monday that it had cancelled all Polymetal trades executed between 0841 GMT and 0902 GMT after a spike in shares of the Anglo-Russian precious metals miner.

The LSE had said in a notice to members earlier that it was investigating trades in Polymetal after the shares surged 700% and that some of them could be cancelled.

I called IG Markets and after I reassured them that I was well aware of the risks, they let me buy some. Not online, but over the phone with the dealer.

Other Russian stocks on the LSE have risen today, while JRS has fallen, is now down 90% from its 52 week high. As a long term investor, today I've doubled my holding in JRS.
