28/2/2022 10:57 | I'm wondering if anyone would know of an isa-able Russian ruble fund, does such an ETF exist? Is there something legitimate out there that tracks the Ruble against the $ or £? | traderabc
28/2/2022 10:13 | It's a pity to see BP giving away its most valuable asset, that was once worth $25bn and produced about 20% of its profits. It also seems regrettable that the UK is now harassing Russians living here, of which there are 10's of thousands. They spend alot of money here and create alot of jobs. If we harass them they will go somewhere else and use a different financial centre. We will be the losers. I see all of these actions as part of the UK's ongoing financial suicide. The main cause is our chronic national self-importance. | galeforce1
28/2/2022 09:25 | was a classic short but IG would not allow shorts on this stock on friday dam it :) I rarely short but this was a no brainer | arja
28/2/2022 09:03 | Could be a bit early, depends how things continue in the Ukraine. What if Putin turns off the gas? Sanctions could then include oil and gas...this would be catastrophic for Russia and its world class business's. | nametrade
28/2/2022 08:54 | Likewise starter position | prince7652
28/2/2022 08:39 | Russia has some world class companies, many of these are in JRS. Now that JRS are on 'Sale' I've bought a few more. | loganair
28/2/2022 08:11 | Closed my tiny position. Surprised stock not suspended to be honest. NAV will be crushed short to medium term | dope007
27/2/2022 21:18 | Norway’s sovereign wealth fund will divest its Russian assets in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Norwegian prime minister announced on Sunday. The $1.3tn sovereign wealth fund is the world’s largest. Its Russian assets, which include government bonds and shares in nearly 50 companies, were worth $2.83bn at the end of 2021. “We have decided to freeze the fund’s investments and have begun a process of selling out [of Russia],” Jonas Gahr Støre, the prime minister, said at a news conference. | topazfrenzy
27/2/2022 20:34 | This fund will be liquidated very fast and shut down for good let's assume .. | topazfrenzy
27/2/2022 20:19 | This is what I was going to recommend to anyone still in or made a few pound in the rebound on Friday. Get out whilst you can. This has escalated a lot this weekend. | jfinvestments
27/2/2022 20:11 | I think Russian banks are going to be hit very hard tomorrow...Sberbank 13.1%...VTB 2.8%...Haylk Bank 2.6%...the 3 banks held in JRS and percentage of assets of each bank in JRS. | loganair
27/2/2022 20:06 | I have a paltry 500 on spread that's all. Have just put the cash in for them expecting a suspension | dope007
27/2/2022 19:35 | Is anyone still invested here? Genuine question. I can't see the current price holding due to the likely sanctions. | jfinvestments
27/2/2022 17:57 | That's right, what a stupid thing to say, the EU wouldn't work if it couldn't hold court over own its members rules, let alone a single members court doing it, and could you imagine a criminal Russian mafia style court over ruling the EU's rules. The lunacy of some peoples thinking, but then again we are all guilty of not having dealt with this Russian megalomaniac long ago I suppose. | my retirement fund
27/2/2022 17:47 | Russia did not have free and independent courts then. It still does not now.If one wants to join a club then one should follow the rules, or get the club to change their rules. Can you imagine autocratic Russia in the EU? Me neither. | dabekt
27/2/2022 17:08 | Russia wanted to join the EU in 2006 but didn't because it could not accept the membership laws (which are obviously tested in the ECJ - thats why it is there), that could trump single member laws (which would be tested in the Russian courts instead). Jeez really, I mean REALLY ? What planet are you on ! | my retirement fund
27/2/2022 16:57 | If Ukraine is an independent state then it should be free to have similar relationships and partnerships that we in the UK do.We should not treat Ukraine as a far flung territory and decide what they can and can't do simply by drawing lines on a map.We, under John Major PM, have guaranteed their territorial integrity in return for being nuear free. And now you propose this? | dabekt
26/2/2022 10:21 | Ukraine is a basket case of an economy, totally run by the oligarchs due to Ukraine having such weak and corrupt senior politicians. If Russia wasn't being strongly run by Putin, Russia would be a very poor indebted country run by the oligarchs as it was in the 1990's when Yeltsin was Russia's president. I've been to Russia many times from the mid 1980's until today and I must say I feel freer when in Russia then in Europe, especially countries such as Spain which under the veneer surface has a mediaeval psyche and attitude to life. In the USA which on the whole feels very backward when ever I'm there, where many areas are very poor and falling apart. When the USSR fell apart, Regan and Bush signed a deal with Gorbachev that NATO would not expand East, taking in the ex-Eastern block states, the only exception was East Germany. NATO and Western Europe have reneged on this promise and on their word to Russia. In around 2006 Russia nearly joined the EU. Sadly the EU was being typically intransigent saying they only could so if the ECJ superseded even the highest Russian courts, similar problem the UK had and are still having. If the EU had dropped this about the ECJ then maybe today Russia would be in the EU as would the UK still be. | loganair
25/2/2022 21:08 | logonair and galeforce1 - I tend to agree that your summary is very plausible. It's a pity that the BBC / politicians can't provide some intelligent commentary like you! Let's all hope it gets sorted out and that peace eventually prevails for the people of Ukraine! | topvest
25/2/2022 05:49 | It’s not clear to me what Putin’s bigger plan is here. I can’t believe that it’s to permanently occupy the whole of Ukraine. That would be a huge undertaking. It would be very difficult to sustain in the long term. Another option would be installing a puppet government, but that would mean leaving an army of occupation. I reckon it’s more likely that the plan is withdrawal, having obtained guarantees about Ukrainian non-membership of NATO, to a line down the east of Ukraine which includes the Donbas and also a land bridge to Crimea. What impact will the UK sanctions have on JRS? It’s important that it continues to be listed. Eventually things will calm down and the Moscow stock market will recover | galeforce1
24/2/2022 21:36 | Sadly for Europe, over the past 25 years they have slowly been dismantling their armies and the EU has slowly been dismantling the nation state, not many people will fight and defend the EU. Around 2006, Russia was close to joining the EU if the EU hadn't been so silly. One of the main sticking points was the ECJ, like with Poland, Russia said that the ECJ would not over rule Russian courts in Russia which the EU said could not be the case and therefore Russia would not be allowed to join the EU. | loganair
24/2/2022 21:01 | I completely disagree. The West needed to reassure Putin that Ukraine would never join NATO. That’s what he wanted. It was not an unreasonable demand. Instead countries like Britain, which are in no position to threaten Russia or to protect Ukraine, have provoked him by sending arms to Ukraine etc. This was counter-productive. | galeforce1
24/2/2022 19:29 | There is only one thing that stops dictators - force. Great shame the west did not arm Ukraine better | hindsight
24/2/2022 19:08 | You believe him lol. I would be worrying if I was in the other Eastern European countries. He does not care about crashing his economy or his people suffering hyper inflation with the rouble so weak. His cronies getting assets frozen and losing their London houses. | robizm |
