28/10/2021 13:39 | I agree anyone looking to bid for CH4 will also be looking at ITV - maybe not Miroma | hades1
28/10/2021 13:36 | With so many companies sniffing around Channel 4, there must be a few also with an eye on ITV. "ITV appointed advisers from Credit Suisse and Robey Warshaw LLP to advise it on potential options, according to the Oct. 23 report, which didn’t specify where it got the information from. Michael Grade, chairman of Miroma Ventures and a former chief executive officer of Channel 4, is also considering a bid in consultation with bankers from Rothschild & Co., the newspaper said. ITV, Credit Suisse and Robey Warshaw declined to comment to the Times, as did Miroma. The newspaper said that at least one U.S. private equity firm has also sounded out advisers in London with regards to Channel 4. Other potential bidders which could show interest are Comcast-owned Sky and ViacomCBS, which runs Channel 5. In July, The Telegraph reported that Discovery Inc. was holding informal talks about a potential bid too, which could provide the broadcaster with more favorable advertising deals in the U.K. without partnering the BBC. A Discovery spokesman told the newspaper then that the company was not preparing to table an offer as it was focused on its merger with WarnerMedia." | hamhamham1
28/10/2021 13:15 | Ok No one can explain it so I will run with Ivan's 'conspiracy theory' explanation. Let's hope Ivan is wrong with his as yet unexplained theory on the share price staying at 104p until results? Matthewr1 - any ideas welcome? | hades1
28/10/2021 11:18 | "Difficult to explain the lack of spill over from WPP especially with reported UK Q3 strength?" The WPP results are out and ITV has not moved up in tandem as usual. Today WPP up 6.4% and ITV down 0.9% Sorry if not clear. PS I am bitter because I meant to take a position in WPP yesterday but had to go out! I consoled myself with the thought that ITV should go up anyway if they were any good! I was wrong! ITV L2/3 Strengthening as I type. | hades1
28/10/2021 11:15 | HadesNo, you asked why i believe it wont move | stansmith3
28/10/2021 11:14 | Stan I just asked for your view why ITV has not moved in line with WPP today? I know you believe it's not manipulation so what's your view? | hades1
28/10/2021 11:11 | hadesi note ivan/5eights did not answer your question | stansmith3

28/10/2021 11:07 | Incidentally I have received my first agency estimates of the the 2022 TV market (vs 2021) Lowest +6% and the highest +7.5% (several agencies) Q1 2022 +10 to +12% (weak Q1 2021) Final 2021 still estimated +12% vs 2019 and +23% vs 2020 Sadly ITV probably won't given any outlook on 2022 when they report? - Possibly during seminar after? Please DYOR | hades1
28/10/2021 10:48 | The only thing I can say on that stan, I half agree with Jim because with a market cap of a piddling £4.2 billion it is a sitting duck. It is the biggest UK independent broadcaster at 22% with only the BBC reaching more viewers. If they acquired CH4 they would overtake the BBC in viewership, that is fact. My broker whose opinion I respect says it is just a case of ITV being unnoticed and in the UK which is blighted by Brexit. As he pointed out, there are some really great UK household names valued at peanuts because we are out of fashion. It will all take off, you just need to be in it to win it! Stay invested even though it is painful. | slater5
28/10/2021 10:47 | WPP, now the best performing stock in the FTSE this morning. Cast your minds back to THAT interview last month with both Dame Carolyn and Mark Read (CEO at WPP) and towards the end of it when the Dame gave Mr Read daggers when he appeared to let the cat out of the bag with regards to bumper advertising revenues for the remainder of this year and going into next year. Here's some of his statement this morning :- "Our very strong performance goes well beyond a cyclical recovery, with like-for-like growth over 2019 at 6.9% in the quarter. Clients across all sectors and geographies are making significant investments in marketing, particularly in digital media and ecommerce services. We are now above 2019 levels in all of our business lines, and with the actions we have taken over the last three years, we are even better positioned for growth.' Hence why ITV is down again this morning, makes sense right ? :) | ivanborsky
28/10/2021 10:43 | Difficult to explain the lack of spill over from WPP especially with reported UK Q3 strength? Stan any explanation from your side of the recent debate? I won't ask Ivan as I understand his view - But why do you think ITV won't move from the monthly VWAP in the run up to results? - Why do you believe that? Surely given the whole world knows the results will be good the MMs will lift it into results? I certainly can't explain WPP now +6.1% and ITV down -0.8%? It makes no real sense especially given history? ITV's book finely balanced all day. | hades1
28/10/2021 09:44 | ITV were up around 3p on the last set of WPP results back in April but it's all change now. Over the last month the VWAP for ITV is a shade over 104.p, don't expect too much deviation from this as we head towards November 10th. | ivanborsky
28/10/2021 09:34 | WPP now up 5%. Thought that this would have helped the ITV share price today, but sadly no. | nige co
28/10/2021 08:07 | WPP had a strong UK Q3 WPP up 4% | hades1
27/10/2021 21:19 | loljimbull, i do enjoy your posts..however ivan borksy/aka 5eights has had adam crozier, liberty, bt, any adr purchase and countless others involved in the great british theft of itvwill he have the audacity to say he was right all along if someone tries to buy itv, almost certainlyat least a dozen ftse shares have performed like itv over the last 4 months | stansmith3
27/10/2021 20:40 | You wouldn't you bet on it stan!ffs | jimbull
27/10/2021 18:59 | There is no manipulation.Ffs. | stansmith3
27/10/2021 17:16 | With O trades (off book pre-negotiated) they are also not necessary logged correctly as could had taken place earlier - buy/sell indicator is given when trade booked not transacted. Large O trades are very often a collection of thousands of smaller trades made by hedge funds and then booked when convenient by their broker - again buy /sell indicator is erroneous. | hades1
27/10/2021 17:12 | If you have direct access to the book(DMA) via a broker you buy at the sell prices and sell at the buy prices.Hence buy / sell volume is meaningless. | hades1
27/10/2021 16:59 | exlogiclad: check out iceberg on lse and his blog, it may change your mind. | cboney
27/10/2021 16:34 | bob.....I have read around 2 dozen posts today on different forums and everyone is remarking on the way the share price can't put on a few pence on the run up to the report in a fortnight even with the huge volume today, zilch. Are the shares bought and sold in these 12 million today, all part of the market maker hand in hand with a 3rd party like GS. Is this skullduggery, seems 90% of us suckers believe it is because not one person can explain. The closest answer is contained in Nigeco's manipulation link, but ITV is a FTSE100 company, surely not? | stag6
27/10/2021 16:20 | Heavy buys today, outnumber sells 6 to 1 and it's down. Hard not to agree that MM's are heavily involved in keeping the share price down. Anyone explain why it's normal. | bobdiamond1 |
