18/10/2021 11:27 | stan...anything that doesn't fit the norm can be described as weird. The trading pattern here suggests there are few sellers, low liquidity. If the market in ITV shares wasn't being rung by MM's we would be seeing price volatlity which spurs trading. Not happening, look at the volumes in other FTSE shares. Ringing, manipulation, call it what you will, it just means that a group or syndicate of traders and/or trading firms collude to keep a damper on the share price Of course you wouldn't know it is happening, no nudge nudge or wink wink....you must be niaive to think it isn't happening. A buying opportunity for those who can read the cards. | goldfinger16
18/10/2021 10:09 | nigegoldfinger has said there IS weird tradinggiven this IS the lse, im looking forward to seeing evidence and his rationale behind the statement | stansmith3
18/10/2021 10:06 | Stan, I don't know if there is manipulation with ITV share price or not, all I will say is that Drahi was able to purchase 12.1% of BT behind the markets back, the fist thing that the market knew about it was a RNS announcement, so if that can be done anything is possible. I personally hope that there is, followed by a bid. At least then we would get our answer. | nige co
18/10/2021 09:44 | goldfinger what weird trading? no evidence of that, although if you can show any with a rationale - rather than the nudge nudge wink wink we get from ivanborksky who denies he is 5eights, id be interested to see it, rest of mkt is missing it too, you know they like to load up before an offer, so everyone would like to see it | stansmith3
18/10/2021 08:18 | If manipulation is at play, let's hope that the results speak for themselves. A rerating of the share price must be due, with a low p/e, return of dividends, lower debt than before Covid struck. | nige co
17/10/2021 23:13 | Well I don't know entirely what's going on but I know enough to be adding. | hades1
17/10/2021 21:47 | stan, hades, stag, jacko, nige, all of your posts have fact and some not so believable stuff. I tend to agree with ITV being short on liquidity making it an easy target. To those who are behind the weird trading, it is no more than what they are good at. | goldfinger16
17/10/2021 19:26 | You still with us or sold out?Any ideas about what's going on?Regards | hades1
17/10/2021 14:26 | There has certainly been a sector rotation in past 3 months roughly post the 726 pts Delta drop on the Dow - mid July. Sadly like many I am now clearly in the wrong stocks. Easy to see in hindsight! FTSE 100 back to 2021 highs but I am down a lot! With ITV, whoever has brought us down here has no doubt accumulated more than they have sold - just need the right algorithm/software and a few easily spooked sellers. Time will tell but it doesn’t take much to bring a low liquidity share down especially if you use the closing auctions - sellers are often also buyers using market momentum and software. The recent drop only really started after Blackrock had drained another 5% of shares and caused a further meaningful drop in the free float. Up to that point we were trading between 226-113p post the 19th July correction - Since Blackrock it’s in between 113-102p. Interestingly there are still no declared short positions above 0.5% in ITV - So no real ITV bears out there! The FTSE100 overall has now recovered completely. | hades1
17/10/2021 14:13 | stagi agree nobody knows the whole picture..i was just pointing out the absurdity of a the alleged manipulation to the downside and a results driven spikeanyone with the means to drive down a ftse share would be well aware of that risk and given it other outcomes are more likely, re your damp squid reference...but you have to marvel how one headbanger on here, with no facts and mutually exclusive conspiracy theories - in his own words, and someone who denies who he is on the asylum - can get inside peoples heads as they latch on to any reason no matter how ridiculousi just dont see how itv is behaving weirdly, my entire portfolio has moved in the same sync for months | stansmith3
17/10/2021 13:45 | We need good results followed by a positive forward looking statement. | nige co
17/10/2021 09:33 | No worries | hades1
17/10/2021 09:27 | Hades... "Nige you have a point but you are rather missing the larger picture. This isn’t primarily event driven advertising growth - there are no events until the autumn world cup but we have double digit growth now." Hades, yes I understand your point, I was just pointing out that the World Cup will be later in the year compared to the usual Summer tournament. Yes the World Cup should give an extra advertising boost for ITV it usually does, let's hope that the advertising holds up. | nige co
16/10/2021 23:03 | Who are they selling to? - the right or left hand? Just stamp duty to pay. There is no spread with an algorithm and DMA. Just a thought. | hades1
16/10/2021 21:48 | Many electronic communication networks (ECNs), which are the automated systems that match buy and sell orders for securities, offer the ability for traders to post reserve orders and hidden orders. ECNs generally display the best available bid and ask quotes from multiple market participants, and they also automatically match and execute orders.A reserve order option is composed of a price and display size along with the actual size. This order only shows the specific display size on Level III as it hides the true size of the entire order. Hidden orders, which give investors the option to hide large orders from the market on the ECN, function in a similar way but are often invisible on level III. This allows for more discretion in determining prices. The best way for users to determine the status of the reserve or hidden orders is to check the time and sales for trades at the indicated prices. | zaxarobal
16/10/2021 18:53 | Nige you have a point but you are rather missing the larger picture. This isn’t primarily event driven advertising growth - there are no events until the autumn world cup but we have double digit growth now. Good luck with BT. I have decided to possibly reduce my position again or close it altogether for the time being - too risky for me until it touches bottom. But happy to be wrong. Adam Crozier starts at BT on 1st Nov. - that’s good. Now back to ITV - Apologies | hades1
16/10/2021 18:49 | Hades, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar starts on 21 November. Moved from the usual Summer because of the temperatures. | nige co
16/10/2021 18:05 | Well they have until 9th November. Results on 10th and they will be stellar. News will start to leak as anyone working in Media/Advertising will be now be aware of the staggering resurgence in TV Advertising - Today it’s called traditional and digital AV advertising. Carolyn was sceptical about the longevity of post lockdown boom but she was very wrong. It’s actually grown considerably stronger since the the Cambridge TV Conference in Sept and is certainly continuing well into 2022. Don’t forget we also have the World Cup in Autumn 2022 to add to growth. The new spending boom is being driven by Television (Traditional & Digital AV) and Digital. I suspect this is in part driven by increased margins generated by increased consumer demand and the acceptance of reduced discounting. As a consequence companies are using the opportunity to grow their brand strength through advertising - AV advertising is the way to build big brands. | hades1
16/10/2021 16:26 | Not sure I buy into your logic anymore than the speculation? Its very unclear either way. | hades1
16/10/2021 15:31 | logic defeats speculation in this case | stansmith3
16/10/2021 15:27 | Speculation always surrounds an unexplained and irrational price fall for obvious reasons. | hades1
16/10/2021 14:30 | Speculative post after speculative post.If manipulation is going on to suppress the share price, then it is providing a wonderful opportunity to collect shares at bargain prices. The fact is there is enough supply to meet demand at the lowly price of 104p. No one is calling the bluff of the so called manipulators by buying all their shares off them. That tells everything you need to know. | stansmith3 |
