14/10/2021 15:07 | Well worth another read of this July article to remind us of the qualities ITV have. In a land where content is king, all eyes are on the future of ITV studios (need to Google this headline to read the full article, it won't copy the link) "For the whole ITV group adjusted EBITDA was £573m, which on 16X EBITDA would give it an implied valuation of £9.17bn, yet the current value of ITV is £5.3bn. In the race for content, we believe ITV does present a compelling takeover opportunity based on the current valuation. Of course, there are no guarantees and ITV could suffer a further downturn, but it is certainly a company that we will be keeping a close eye on." Based on the above valuation the whole of ITV would be valued at 227.82p per share. Not including net debt. | nige co
14/10/2021 13:44 | I remain pretty convinced this will get bid for in the next 12 months..... | chrisdgb
14/10/2021 13:42 | "Will the ITV share price ever return to its 5-year high?" 218p, probably not unless there is a bidding war. | nige co
14/10/2021 12:03 | Wise words Goldfinger, I hope that you're proved right in the end. GL | nige co
14/10/2021 10:49 | goldie, nice to see you back posting, have you visited your old mates on the Lloyds thread, you really used to ruffle a lot of feathers. I agree about ITV, but the tree shake has turned into marathon. Less than a million traded at 11am, really pathetic volume. | jacko07
14/10/2021 10:39 | I don't post very often and I see by reading the thread that a lot of small investors are feeling disgruntled. That is exactly the aim of shaking the tree. Market-makers (who control share prices are known to try and 'tree-shake' investors into selling shares so they can buy them on the cheap. They drop the share price dramatically in order to shake out scared holders. They often do this when they have a big buy order to fill and imo there is at least one big buyer out there, maybe more all ready to try and steal ITV......work it out for yourself, it dwarfs CH4, Murdoch tried and lost, the streamers are ok while they charge a paltry £6 or less a month. ITV will surpass it's 5 year high, McCall and the board are doing the right things. Studio's are thriving, ITV hub is buzzing and companies are seeing that advertising on the UK's biggest terrestrial broadcaster is paying off. Regarding the way shares in ITV seem to do nothing but go downward, imo this has a lot to do with the float out there. The volumes are low, the trades small and when we see a few million reported it is often a UT trade which is made up of thousands of the small trades accumulated by market makers. It wouldn't surprise me to see this suddenly surge as it seems to me something or someone has taken a lot of shares out of play. What is being traded is restricted, I will be proved right on this, wait and see. | goldfinger16
14/10/2021 09:44 | Bargain territory here | coxsmn
14/10/2021 08:49 | 104p looks like a tough nut to crack! L2/3 not great but just not enough volume or momentum to holds it yet. | hades1
14/10/2021 07:07 | Will the ITV share price ever return to its 5-year high? | nige co
14/10/2021 07:07 | Will the ITV share price ever return to its 5-year high? | nige co
13/10/2021 19:30 | All UT trades go down as sells, plus with every buyer there has to be a seller. | jimbull
13/10/2021 16:23 | Two trades probably just tidying up from earlier trading - hedge fund broker? 4wks until Q3 Results | hades1
13/10/2021 16:11 | Nige, I have logged all these large trades and all the sells tend to get printed during market hours (i.e. to give us all the impression that there is a large seller out there !) and all the big buys tend to get reported either after hours or a few days later or not at all !!! Good to see there is no let up in the fun and games in ITV !!! | ivanborsky
13/10/2021 15:29 | Ivan, funny how both trades were priced @103p, probably the same person acquiring or selling? 2 big trades amounting to 4.971,275 shares on volume of 7.8m so far. | nige co
13/10/2021 14:42 | Could be, or maybe the 'of no significant interest' trade of 4,095,894 @ 103 (15:10) !! | ivanborsky
13/10/2021 12:53 | Looks like a relatively large sell @103p of 875,381 shares may have played a part in the share price falling back. I'm hoping that the ADR's help us out today. | nige co
13/10/2021 09:40 | Still no volume - struggling with 104p BT also took a hammering - gapped down at open. | hades1
13/10/2021 09:34 | Time will tell, but at some point I suspect the worm will turn. | nige co
13/10/2021 08:12 | Is this a real bounce or just a rest stop? Not convinced just yet! | hades1
13/10/2021 06:25 | CH4 has young audience profile and increases ITVs share of advertising market - cost savings from combining only exist for ITV as they do everything that CH4 does plus much more. It's attraction to ITV really depends on the deal offered by the Government. Advertising Industry strongly lobbying to leave CH4 independent - i.e. as is. | hades1
13/10/2021 06:12 | hadeswhat is the attraction of channel 4?is it brand or does it have reach or access that itvs other ten much cheaper to run and lower regulated channels dont have? | stansmith3
12/10/2021 19:21 | ITV are an existing Public Service Broadcaster as Channel 4 - they hold a license. The Channel 4 extra requirement is to use independent production companies. If retained it will be reflected in Channel 4’s price or possibly removed from the new required remit - hence the campaign opposing privatisation from the independent production community. | hades1 |
