ITV look ripe for a takeover to me.

With the very high volume of share traded especially over in the USA over the past 10 trading days, I wouldn't be surprised if ITV receives a bid within the next 2 months, maybe the next 2 weeks. Last week in the US someone was hoovering up the ADR's and prepared to pay a premium on the UK share price, so I would guess that the potential acquirer is from the USA. Interesting times ahead.

Articles in today’s Times, Telegraph and Daily Mail newspapers about Private Equity (US) stalking FTSE - I think all articles behind business section paywalls but The Times (the best article) link is below.
Upcoming targets not mentioned but clearly very active.
Not surprising really given low UK valuations after pandemic and Brexit.
UK on sale.

nigeno i was merely speculating from experience that a future event could be tracked back to events of this/last weeknews of some corporate event / takeover etc. leaks and the illegal positioning starts..i just said splitting as an example...but it could turn out to be a major partnership, anything really - but today showed something IS going on.......

I agree with you Stan, it very much looks like someone in the USA is accumulating.

I asked the a question at the recent AGM Stan, asking if the BOD had or would consider splitting the company to release shareholder value. I was told that they consider this regularly, and that the BOD think that ITV should remain as one, that this is the best way going forward. I disagree splitting the company would increase value for shareholders. But what do I know? Maybe someone agrees with me and will make a takeover bid and split ITV up?

nigewell today i think very significant, everything down the pan and someone is buying itv...its adds significant weight to the previous 4m adr daytoday had a bit of a rumour spreading look to me, but i guess we will just wait to find out now....if for example we find out in two weeks that itv are splitting the studios business then it would all make sensebut so far looks like usa buyer is accumulating..

Stan, you guess is as good as mine regarding ADR's.

In just over an hour after LSE closes the ADR volume picks up yet again. At London close it was less than 100k. Now 862k.

nigeif the shares are coming from the uk, do you expect the currency costs to disappear?if the float increases in the usa and those shares start trading - but then our supposed usa buyer would be selling - then the premium would disappear
