Cautious7 won't make an appearance while the share price is on an upward trend. The trend is your friend as the saying goes. ITV closed up 3.50p on the week, that's 6 consecutive weeks of gains with the share price finding new year highs. The chart looks very positive to me, long may it continue. A bid would be the icing on the cake, 180p would be nice starting bid.

slater5...I love your bullish comments, all we need now is for Cautious7 to come and give you a hard time again while he waits for 23p. LOL

Nige...it would have to be at least 192p if it happens while the share price is between 120-130p, if this breaks 130/135p then your guess is as good as mine. The feeling I get is it won't be Liberty, someone else and if another bidder appeared and two wanted it, it could get to 300p. Before any of the pessimists tell me I am mad, 300p or £12 billion is small change to at least four or five of the big players. A bid at 192p would value ITV at about £7 billion at 250p £9 billion plus. Bring it on!!!!

The chances of a takeover for ITV are becoming stronger. My contact in the City tells me there is going to be a re-rating of ITV if vibes are correct. He said last year that buying activity was indicative of a stake builder other than Liberty. At 60/70p ITV is a gold plated bargain At 140 ITV is, I think, fairly priced until there is clear evidence of the post covid landscape - we will have to see what happens My view, FWIW. Split the company and sell off studios and the back catalogue for c 150p. that leaves the adverting and broadcast business that will be in long slow decline but will throw off a lot of cash on a 7/8p divi - reasonable price would be 100p That would be the best outcome for shareholders and is perfectly reasonable financially This is what I would do as a VC player today - If I could buy at under 180p it would be a no brainer - splitting the companies and funding it will cost 20-25p/share but the whole thing could be done quite quickly say within 18 months

Lack of volume is not limited to ITV.It's LSE wide.

Volume is pretty dire this morning considering its the last Friday of the trading year, which suggests that most of the larger trades will be hidden in the uncrossing trade this afternoon or will be published later this evening after hours when everyone has gone home !

Stag..."It is my largest holding and I trade about 10% of my holding frequently, scared to go further as I do not want to miss this when that bid arrives." Wise to only trade 10% Stag. We will wake up one morning to see that someone has made a bid for ITV, I'm sure it will happen, I just don't know when. The longer someone waits the more expensive ITV becomes.

I had to laugh at Cautious7 he was forever moving the goalposts. He would tell the world that once the share price dropped to a certain price he was going to fill his boots, or make a killing. The share price would drop to his target price, he would then move his target price down again and again. He was never going to buy whatever the share price was. If it had dropped to 1p he would have wanted 0.50p.

ITV are not in the running with 'Netflix' 'Disney' 'Prime' or any of the new kids on the block. I am long and trade it almost daily, if I can't sell within the day, I wait and they always give me a profit. It is my largest holding and I trade about 10% of my holding frequently, scared to go further as I do not want to miss this when that bid arrives. I am waiting for 130p to break and I see a fairly strong rally to 150p into the Summer. Studios are booked solid, advertising is returning strongly, Britbox is gaining subscribers here and in the USA, 'Love Island', 'Celebrity get me outta here' the Soaps, Sport and Drama are all on the rise. These are still begging to be bought at under 130p, mind you I have been bullish on this board with the advise to fill your boots since 54p last year. As for Cautious7, he will turn up as a skeleton on the next series of 'Unforgotten' another hit ITV show being sold to the world.

Still a good buy at sub 130p. A lot of upward potential.

It's a loss in my eyes, if you sell for less than what you bought it for, it's a loss. Unless you include the dividends already received, that I'm ok with.

Its not really a lose if they swapped into something else. Nearly everything has gone up since March 2020. Just some things have gone up further and longer. Who knows what they swapped into.

I think that people that try and scare shareholders in to selling are trying to give the impression to the shareholder who is more than likely holding a paper loss, that they are far too clever to have bought such a share at such a high price. It gives them some self worth I guess. If people are panicked into selling after listening to these posters then more fool them. I personally take everything that I read on a discussion board with a large pinch of salt. Always best to do your own research, that way you only have yourself to blame.

I think with the larger companies they make no difference to the price of the stock at all, unless they are part of a wider institution shorting. Who in their right mind would short this given the present chart anyway?

They irritate me to be honest, because they scare people out of perfectly good holdings. I don't know what pleasure that idiot C7 got out of it ... a mental health issue no doubt. But the opposite of him are just as bad ... talking up shares with no underlying thesis, or just plain lying about something ... I won't mention any names.

No surprise to get that reply from a guy who posts on LSE under another name and then comes on here referring to the same post as evidence of some point he's making. Why don't you sit right down and write yourself a letter?

Who cares ??? You keep bringing up his name, if you're that keen email him direct, he has long gone with all those other numpties that were calling for 40p, 30p etc over the Summer. Move on !

Whatever happened to that old bloke Cautious7? He disappeared once the share price began to recover, and he's not been heard of since. When you can't gloat about a falling share price I suppose posting's not so much fun? As he would sign off ... lol.
