Now looking at replacing Piers Morgan with Victoria Derbyshire apparently. You couldn't make it up - obviously low viewing figures just don't matter to them.

I see Britbox as just a small add on that more than likely will become valuable in a few years from now, let's not forget ITV intend adding new content to Britbox going forward, it may only need a bolckbuster to ignite Britbox into growth. I just see it as a nice bonus. ITV don't expect Britbox to make a profit for few years, so no worries. I would rather own an undervalued ITV than an overvalued Netflix, low p/e every time for me.

stag..good to see you back posting. I couldn't agree more with all you have said, thanks for reminding me to see if I can add a few more tomorrow. Not only ITV, I think most of the FTSE 350 is a buy, but that is only my opinion.

Carolyn McCall is a smart CEO, she did me as an Easyjet shareholder proud and her slow but sure changes at ITV were working well only to have the virus get us. How many times has it been reported that Britbox isn't competing with Netflix, Amazon, Disney or any other streamer. To compare Britbox streaming to companies that rise and fall in value on Wall St in a session more in money than ITV's whole Mkt Cap is just plain ignorance. My money is on ITV to return a bigger gain from here than Netflix. ITV @ £1.22p v NFX @ $520 or at £375 per share or 307 times greater. Britbox losing money, well as every forecast stated that it would, that is no surprise. If you want to see losing money, cast your eyes on Netflix, it is drowning in debt ITV at 120p is still at a bombed out price. In real terms anyone picking these up at these prices, are getting a whole lot of discount. Forget Britbox it's a small part of a big equation...ITV have studios booked up until 2023, more viewers in the UK than any streamer and to me the most important factor the company's Mkt Cap....it is so cheap it is a sitting duck for predators. Barring anything like WW3 starting, or that USA bubble bursting for an undisclosed reason, ITV is a BUY. Fill your boots!

i think the issue is that you like the idea of itif you do the numbers, the problem becomes apparentif you had done the numbers and they were good, im sure you would have posted by nowdont really see how you can be so strongly for it, if you have not done the numbers

Apologies if I misunderstood your position although I find it strange that a long term investor holds the views you express. I would certainly not be a holder of these shares if I held the views you articulate on this BB. None the less good luck to you.

hadesif anyone is getting sucked in its me, some journo likes a royal programme and you make a post in support of britboxbritbox is a great idea, its just not going to make any money soon, so would be irrelevant were it not losing moneythe only thing that is clear is that you think shareholders must love everything a company does, what a stupid point of viewi am very long itv, its my biggest holding, but because i dont like an obviously difficult venture i am clearly a bear on itv?seriously?

Stan: Why does sport add material profit many years after the event? You've lost me. That is really counter-intuitive. You would think it would add profit around about the time of the event.

just unlikely to add material profit for many years

Yes you have missed something. The Olympics are broadcast on commercial TV channels in the USA and most other countries. The Olympics also generate considerable commercial TV audiences in the USA - remember greater local interest in the Olympic games than in the UK. It provides no material benefit to ITV (or other UK commercial broadcasters) in terms of advertising revenues. There are Olympics marketing promotions (not usually TV supported) but they have not historically had a material impact on UK advertising revenues - given these games are also in Japan with only domestic life audiences...............? No material impact to ITV. Incidentally the Olympics do not usually generate large incremental audiences for the BBC except during late night and daytime - thankfully not impacting commercial TV audiences. The article you posted reflects the impact of the Olympics on the North American advertising market (and a few other similar markets including the host country) - sadly NOT the UK. The only material impact on UK broadcasters is a modest decline in off peak commercial audiences. However I do believe ITV will have a strong TV advertising recovery during 2021 and concur with in industry forecasts (from WPP, Publicis, Densu, Havas etc) of around +10% vs 2020 - taking us back to roughly pre-pandemic 2019 levels.

hades1: I'm no expert so forgive me if I'm wrong. I dont think the BBC has adverts. So any sports adverts (for bikes, shoes, rackets, balls, tee-shirts etc etc) has to be on ITV. Or have I missed something? (marketing people always say massive spike in sales after Wimbledon, World Cup, Euros, and Olympics). ITV get the money. BBC pay the money. perhaps read this: Https://www.foxbusiness.com/money/tokyo-olympics-now-at-more-than-one-billion-in-tv-ad-revenue

Olympics is on BBC not ITV and doesn’t attract large audiences in the UK especially when there are substantial time zone differences. Historically has had no meaningful impact on other UK broadcasters - accept during London games. Euros (soccer) will be a substantial money spinner for ITV this June and July.

Read a chartist’s view this morning and he thought there was an upward trend to 173p at which point there may be some resistance due to selling pressure from those who have held the shares long term and want to break even. If it manages to break through that level then it could go much higher.

Nicely done Nice. Wow if NT has an average of a 1 GBP per share (which incidentally I think he has a much lower average) and the price hits his target of 1.40 GBP he stands to gain a cool 1.2M. I think the figure is a lot higher. He is risking about 3M but as I said his average is probably way lower. Very good foresight.
