Again the man is a fool, and frankly I have got to have the same suspicions about anyone on here who wants to repost what he's even saying. The man is all but lying and blatantly trying and failing to manipulate these shares higher. Total waste of space

I just think his comments are irresponsible cyberian. He's got absolutely nothing to substantiate his claim that ITV will receive £40m a year from Virgin, let alone that earnings could be 20% higher when they make a deal with Sky.I don't know the man but he strikes me as a bit of a fool with these wild predictions for the share price and these baseless claims on retransmission fees.

Agree PP...some brokers just like to stay the same course, but then again Whittaker a few days ago was suggesting that ITV's 2019 earnings could be effected by spending commitments only to recover from accumulation of cost savings in 2020. This was when he was still bullish with his price target, and with the likes of JPM being quite positive on 2019/20 earnings, and a PT of 220p. Whatever, the slightly negative tone by some followers on ITV's prospects seem to be negated by McCall's statement and leadership qualities and drive forward with sensible plans/objectives...consolidation is also a factor which could also come into play.

I wish all parties would respect confidential transactions if mutually agreed, but somehow third parties get involved and little one can do about it, I guess...on Sky I would assume that negotiations are now dependent on the bid war outcome.

It seems ITV is not making any comment on this so Liberum's statement seems pure conjecture. There is an article in the Hollywood Reporter which seems to be saying that it's a good deal for both companies although quite how that works for Virgin I don't know.

It's good to see that our new CEO Carolyn McCall is doing a good job. Long may it continue.

If confirmed that's really quite positive. Not only does it fully compensate them for increased programming costs but it also provides an incremental incentive for Liberty to one day buy the businesses - now they have tax synergies and retransmission synergies

Thanks for that philanderer. If that's correct then it is a very handy piece of business and very satisfactory.

Liberum: ITV boosts profit with Virgin transmission deal Broadcaster ITV (ITV) has signed a three-year retransmission deal with Virgin Media, boosting profits by around £40 million a year, according to Liberum. Analyst Ian Whittaker retained his ‘buy’ recommendation and target price of 275p on the stock after the announcement. ‘We estimate that this deal should give ITV an extra £40 million of pre-tax profits annually, equivalent to c.5% of full year 2019 consensus estimates,’ he said. ‘If ITV can reach a similar deal with Sky, this would mean close to 20% consensus earnings accretion. A side-effect of the deal is likely to be a renewed interest in acquiring STV, which holds the ITV licence in Scotland.’ The shares fell a penny to 165.4p yesterday. The closer the UK gets to a hard Brexit the higher the likelihood that MP's from across parties step in and force a vote, either in the form of a referendum or a general election ... that could lead to Corbyn, and leave the UK in single market and customs union. The hard brexiteers, in my opinion, have miscalculated. Better to go with a softer Brexit now and lay the groundwork for a full break later. Rees-Mogg working on a new trade deal with Mesopotamia and re-starting the East India Company.

Couldn't agree more MarksThe impact on share prices is something of an imponderable at this stage, depending on sector/ specifics as we saw with the vote shock/ FTSE100.. but there is virtually no scenario where the impact on the overall economy or the exchequer is positive

Hard Brexit I'm taking my ball away but you have lots of your own anyway.Who wants to play with me on my rules? If you are in Wales NE or NW you need to have faith that Gove et. al will continue the funding for those areas that the EU provides primarily because the uk govt didn't fund them originally I had an interesting evening this week with assorted Europeans. No one likes the EU and there some rabid antieuro views but they all took the view that the EU was the least worst option and they couldn't understand who we think we are.....why we thought we were special and why we would endanger trading relationships on our doorstep for relationships in Oz NZ and the highly unreliable Trump. Inside the EU there is collective muscle. Small island off the coast of Europe...not so frighteningSaddest thing for me at the moment is I can't see anyone in uk politics who is a leader I trust with something as important as this. Disraeli Palmerston and Churchill are dead but that is the rhetoric I am hearingI don't follow the great enthusiasm for the will of the people either. No one has been interested before with what electors think between elections so why now. I don't believe even the most retarded in the electorate voted to stay or go regardless of the impact or costs. Now the magic money tree has been proven not to exist and increased nhs funding = increased taxation and we still need to pay for things UK signed to pay for as a sovereign govt maybe the question should be asked again but with some content

InterestingI like the confidentially view and she is right. Virgin are also in negs with BBC so I am sure they don't want the settlement public. Also suggests it is financially significant or virgin would be shouting it to put pressure on BBC
