UK broadcaster ITV reported a sharp increase in profit over the half-year as its studio business boomed on the Euros and hit-show Love Island, while last year's advertising slowdown subsided. On an adjusted basis, pre-tax profit rose over 50 per cent to £178m in the six months to July, despite a marginal three per cent decline in revenue, to £1.9bn. Earnings before interest, taxation and amortization (EBITA) also jumped 39 per cent to £212m.

Mixed bag today. No nasties but not sure it's rally material either.

FTSE + global indices sentiment is currently a little negative.

Maybe time to take a little profit off the table for me...

Impacted by phasing of productions and US writers' and actors' strikes in 2023, ITV Studios H1 revenue was down 13%2, as expected, and adjusted EBITA3 grew 5% driven by a strong contribution from higher margin catalogue sales and cost savings

Previous guidance was for ITV Studios total revenue for FY 2024 to be broadly flat. Our view of the market has not changed but we now expect revenue to be down low single digit

M&E revenue was up 7% at £1,034 million (2023: £964 million), with total advertising revenue (TAR) up 10%, ahead of previous guidance

The start of 2024 saw TAR up 3% in Q1 and up 17% in Q2 with strong viewing across our broadcast channels and ITVX, with a very successful first two weeks of the UEFA Euro 2024, a year-on year-increase in viewing of Love Island and a slate of great dramas.

Compared to the same period in 2023 which included the Rugby World Cup, TAR is expected to be broadly flat in Q3, with continued strong growth in digital advertising revenues.

Still dividend yield is nearly 6% that is better than more or less the entire UK FTSE100 and FTSE250....
Which implies the share price is still too cheap

Looking forward to waking up and reading about a small dividend increase above the 1.7p interim paid last year.

Night all.

Johnnny, agree Goldfinger has championed ITV since he knew the bid was put on the back burner. I gave him a bit of stick, so did others, but he was right that ITV shares were super cheap.

I hope McCall doesn't send the share price into freefall tomorrow.
