Geck , I agree , and the creep back above 100p would indeed make a bid possible. But the creep is zero to do with a bid as it stands.

So Johnnybig , you think the shares are 85p (from 58p) because of the rumblings of a bid?
Not the buyback (& resulting dividend increase)?
Not the advertising uplift from England reaching the final of the euros or that love island is on?
Not the improving operational performance flagged in the last results update?
Not the short covering ahead of the results on the 25th?
Not the falling mortgage rates that will affect the 1m households that have to refinance this year with the resulting income destruction that would have bought?
Not the removal of political uncertainty (in the UK)?
Not the fact that UK rates will be cut in 14 days and the multiplayer boost to the economy that would bring and therefore particularly help interest rate sensitive stocks (like ITV)?
Not the success of ITVX in terms of streams?
Did I miss anything?

matthewr, I appreciate your knowledge on the working of the City, but you do tend to lets say admonish Goldfinger16's posts. I am happy to read posts from all who are into ITV and hold the stock.

I can't dismiss Goldfinger as a fantasist because he comes over as very savvy on these things and he has been correct on press pieces on ITV arriving.

It is also possible that one of the big players shelved a bid for ITV because of Putin's invasion, that would be a matter of due diligence and no board of directors would launch a bid while the market was so disturbed.

Maybe you and Goldfinger16 have more in common than you think.

"Secondly (& more importantly) down here there is zero chance of a bid as the institutions wouldn’t sell for anything less than 150p"

Which is why the gradual creep back to 100p is key because then any bid will be at a comfortable premium to hit that 150p mark one assumes.

Be interesting to watch.

Marks , I’m sure there are plenty of companies having a look at ITV , but two things.
Firstly that’s not a bid , vs what GF says.
Secondly (& more importantly) down here there is zero chance of a bid as the institutions wouldn’t sell for anything less than 150p. You don’t appoint an army of advisors and legal for a bid with zero chance of success. Talk to me when the share price is back above 100p , and then the probability rises (from current zero).
