22/7/2024 17:39 | But we did learn that a bell won't be rung when whoever decides ITV finally needs to have a higher valuation. It will be sudden and brutal. Shorts take note! | bigegoadvfn
22/7/2024 17:36 | Hah! Well we can rule out automated buyback trades causing the 2m share spike. Dead volume on buyback today, so it came from somewhere else... Date of purchase: 22 July 2024 Number of ordinary shares purchased: 55,946 | bigegoadvfn

22/7/2024 14:44 | A spike like that is often caused by lack of sellers in which case MM's have to go to whats available on Level 2 sells. Seems there is a dearth of ITV shares at these low sp's. For those who want Level 2 explained I post a link from our friend Timothy Sykes. | ![]() robwt
22/7/2024 14:40 | Very unlucky spike for any shorts with stop losses triggered a few % above the price today. | bigegoadvfn

22/7/2024 14:07 | Analysing the London Stock Exchange data here : Trade was pretty quiet until 13:31 - with a total of 19 trades / 44,073 shares Then over the course of 13:32 - volume spiked to 171 trades / 1,223,026 shares Things started to slow at 13:33 - with 147 trades / 867,122 shares Back to nothing at 13:34 - with 5 trades / 9,282 shares Highest 3 trades were at 13:33:09 total 44,085 shares exchanged at 89p exactly. The total volume in those 2 unusual minutes was 2,090,148 - only worth around £1.8m which was enough to cause the spike - which took it from approx 84.8 to 89 a rise of 5% which is a dis-proportionally large change in market cap (approx £170m) vs the £1.8m value of shares traded... In simple terms fat finger or otherwise - a sudden rush to buy £1.8m shares caused market makers to markup ITV by £170m until they could understand what was going on and settle things down again. Interesting to see how sensitive ITVs price is - almost a hair trigger vs a not very remarkable value of shares. | bigegoadvfn

22/7/2024 13:40 | What's up? Spiked to 88.69p, no RNS ... | bigegoadvfn
22/7/2024 13:40 | ITV's profits are set to nearly treble, City forecasts show. This is due to the Euro 2024 football tournament, the broadcaster's big-hitting dramas and less of an obligation to pump cash into its streaming service ITV X. ITV is expected to report earnings of £133 million for the six months to the end of June. This is up from £45 million the year before, when it was investing heavily in ITV X. The FTSE 100 company has banked on the success of this advertising-funded platform, which can be viewed ad-free for a subscription. ITV's shares have risen by 40 per cent over the past six months, partly driven by bid speculation, with Netflix viewed by some as one possible predator. Ian Lance of Redwheel, the fund manager that runs the Temple Bar investment trust, has said that Netflix spends more than £11.5 billion a year on programming while ITV's market capitalisation is only £3.3 billion. On that basis 'Netflix could have ITV's entire back catalogue for a fraction of what they spend on programming'. | smurfy2001
22/7/2024 13:39 | It's a bid! Or maybe not, haha. Wasn't some on here claiming it was to be taken out... ;-) Interesting share price movement though, wonder what the cause was. Fat finger buy perhaps. | ![]() davius
22/7/2024 13:36 | Jump to 89p ! Maybe shorts closing | ![]() bc4
