I find goldfinger's posts very informative, unlike the vast majority of other posts on here which are purely critical and unhelpful (post 8378 being a prime example).

I will guarantee that someone, somewhere is working on a bid for ITV. The company I am working for has an approach every week or so. There is a lot of capital out there looking for something to buy at the right price.

And no, they are not notified to the market. they need to be sure that the bidder is serious and has the funds to mount a bid.

To claim there is "no bid" is ignorance beyond belief. I could reel off tons of examples of potential offers being announced which the market didn't see coming.

To be fair to say there is no bid being worked on is wrong. There could well be one that they are working on. But for sure a friend of a friend isn't going to leak snippets of information to our very own ADVFN Pinocchio.

I'll be happy if we charge through the 85p mark later today. Softly, softly for the time being.

Quite the article!

As I keep saying - a dividend increase is highly likely next week (no matter how small - all gratefully received).

‌”A share price of comfortably over 100p is justifiable. Buy says the broker.”

Jimbull , on what he says regarding no bid , I completely concur. Why? Because Goldfinger has previously told us that several market makers know of the bid , but for some unexplained reason are holding the shares down. Now we’re told that a ‘significant journalist (oxymoron) knows too. That’s even before all the advisors for the bid and then legal representatives̷0; basically dozens and dozens of people. Yet the shares don’t move? Really?
As I’ve said before , we’re all long and want the shares up , but make believe guff helps no one.
