Prices and momentum. The good investors will know where to initially buy, where to add, and most importantly, when its probably all over for a long period to come. yes, they timed. Still managed to get years out of a stock that way, @optimal all the way. But the most impressive part is sell timing of course

But in general, when people say timing markets is rubbish, i can assuredly say that 99% of the time, they are saying it from a current paper loss. Justifying it

Reason i say that is because the very same people that got timing lucky on one, are patting themselves on the back for great timing

There are a lot of things i do not understand in the world. But i just put that down to things not being my profession so i wouldnt, or a lack of research etc etc

Importantly, i understand those that do not time markets. Busy doing others jobs etc. Which is fair enough

I even came across passive investors, income or otherwise whom doubled their yearly take when decided to look at timing and prices for markets and respect capital a bit.
